Garage List
Introductory TRACK day at Queensland Raceway

Hi Everyone

I should have put this up earlier and of course everyone is welcome to come:
Please see the forum link below and if it's something you would like to do please let me know. Places are limited.
The purpose for this event is for those who wish to take their car on the track without competing with others. There will be many who don't want to risk their own vehicles in competitive event, all info on the post.

Cheers

Dave

Nice one - I hope to attend something similar in VIC as well, an intro to tracking session.

Michael, thanks for organising Saturday.

I mentioned a forthcoming Driver Dynamics event to some of the others on Saturday.

DD is as introductory as possible. I am still a novice, but have attended probably four track events with DD. They are considerably less intimidating than club sprints (competitive) and other (timed) events.
(a) Strict regulations ie safety, overtaking, courtesy
(b) Predominantly novice drivers, and many first timers
(c) Often exotics ie conservative drivers
(d) Straight line course ie non-technical
(e) Proximity ie Victoria has many racetracks available, but Sandown and Calder Park are within 30-45min of the CBD

It is difficult to convey safety in a forum post, because it does require personal experience. However, if you would have any queries, then feel free to PM myself or Kevin at DD (135i).

I shall be attending on Sunday 23rd September, but hopefully others will be attending. As you can imagine, it becomes very exciting when fellow E82/E92/M vehicles are concurrently on track

that kinda sucks - shouldn't be different to a sprint day, racing against yourself effectively, no pressure but your own

An approval of the BR8 makes it more difficult for another drive within the month.

In booking I didn't request any lap timing as the day is really designed as an intro and not wanting anyone to feel the slightest pressure it made sense not to ask. As it is now there will be groupings where more experienced drivers will be on the track, so if it is a popular requirement I guess this can be done but priority has to go to those who want to try out for the first or second time.

I guess it will depend on the final numbers and the mix. No matter what it should be a great day and a good opportunity for everyone to enjoy.

$20 one is the go. 1/10 is accurate enough for a social day or any day for that matter

You can always get the free cmslaptimer version to compare times. You can also get an external gps for more accurate gps signal

Garage List
2010 BMW Z4 35is  [10.00]
2013 BMW X5 30d  [0.00]
These days are great fun and perfect for the beginner.
WE organised one a month or so back for the BM club.
I think we managed to "blood" a lot of members to the fun of a track day.

By the end of the afternoon you will not be a beginner and will be keen to push on harder and harder.

Doug is very experienced, but his habit of reaching across and steering for you is a bit freaky.

Oh, and if anyone finds the BMW rondials out of the centre of my wheels - please let me know. I lost three out there last time.

Really I am a bit busy, but keen to get the car out on the track on stock brakes before the new one comes in for comparison. I just have to work extra hard to get the brownie points!!!

Yes, and thanks to that great day out there where everyone really enjoyed themselves came the idea to do it again with the same theme.
