With this many cars we'll probably have to break into smaller groups. And radios would be really nice to have.

Yes Gabe I know we need radios. The problem is the US walkie Talkies are illegal to use in Europe. Since they operate on the Emergency frequencies for the Police and Fire. It can be a BIG $$$$ if we are caught.

The EU spec legal (called PMR) Walkie Talkies are all limited to 500mw... so even though they all say/claim 8km range.. I think used inside a car, that would be a max of ~ 2km range.

Here are two walkie talkie sets that I have been eyeing on Amazon.de...

51 euros...
http://www.amazon.de/Motorola-Twinpa...I37M984M1ZHZQH

95 euros....
http://www.amazon.de/Motorola-XTR-44...I1Z6GQADL7JP66

I was thinking we should buy two or three sets. Who wants to chip in?

Here is another great website I use before traveling outside of Germany. It's a good reference for finding safety equipment requirements, speed limits, and tolls/vignette information for each individual country. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice...bycountry.html

Does anybody else have any good info/advice for planning their trip?

Someone who did Stelvio in the past advised to take a movement sickness pill (seasickness/airsickness) in the morning before venturing into the mountain passes. Especially passengers might suffer (a bit of) nausea from all the twisting and turning. Actually, it ain't fun if you gotta stop at the side of the road to allow your passenger (or yourself) to throw up outside the car.

What medication can be recommended ?

I never had any issues with sickness but you could feel the altitude up there (especially climbing up the side of the mountain for pictures).

I don't think I'm going to be able to make the Black Forest "pre-game" on Thursday. I'll see everyone at the Post Hotel early Friday afternoon.

I will be driving down from BA on Friday afternoon and meeting/picking up the München Stammtisch guys and then drive down thru Garmisch/Imst/Nauders/Trafoi.

I am not sure of the time though. I think it will be late afternoon. So I should be at the Post Hotel around 20:00 or so. Maybe earlier. ? I will know more the week before our tour date. Stay tuned.

Yes, we can have dinner at Francesca's hotel. I am planning on it.

Rudi, I will be bringing some of Bamberg's best beers with me... I was thinking we all could bring a little something with us for the others to share. What do you think?

I was thinking of bringing a case of Bamberg smoked beer with me. I know Bob wants some. Maybe IF I can find some room in my car I can bring two cases... I will also try and bring some other famous beers from Bamberg, the Beer Capitol of the Welt.

I think Bob would LOVE some of your Belgium Chimay beer. And I know how you like your dunkel bier Rudi - I will be brings some with me.

R. and I will think of something for you guys. Let us know the approximate quantities. Though the beverages risk to be all shaken up by the time we arrive.

Dackel, I guess the Stelvio 2.0 Treffen provisional programme is mostly boxed together by now. Is it possible to post the provisional programme in one post to have some sort of yardstick (Google road maps, provisionally scheduled visits and stays) ?

Thanks for reminding me I need to make a run to pick up some Chimay.

Sorry to thread jack but ....

BTW. Rudi, since you are in the Netherlands can you get Amstel Brite there? I have only seen it when I was in Curaçao and since then I have not been able to find it. Its the only beer we drank there so it would be great to have a few and send some pics to friends back home. Since Curaçao is part of the Netherlands I thought it might be possible to find it there.
