swapping rear shocks.

Do I need to unbolt control arm to swap out the shocks for the rear?
or just the shocks?

Youll need to remove bolt from carrying arm. unbolt top and bottom of shock and swing the carrying arm down to pull it out. spring will fall out. shouldnt have to touch any control arms.

I did not remove control arm bolts either. You can compress the shock, fairly easily, by hand, which makes it drop out of the upper shock mount (after removing that nut, obviously). Once the top is free, it's easy to get the bottom out.

If you use this manner, you do not need to remove the bottom shock carrier (2 torx bolts), since you can swing the top of the shock towards you and it simply slips out of the bottom carrier.

Its really easy man. Like others said...unbolt the shock from top and bottom, compress the shock by hand, and quickly remove. Should be a 30min job per side...tops! Hardest part is removing the wheels, and trunk liner.

Agreed. Don't mess with control arm. Just unbolt top and bottom. Two bolts total. Compress and remove.

I do this to adjust my konis. Worst part is the trunk interior.
