Anyone else noticing a lot more 128i/135is on the road?

These cars seem to be popping up more often. Yesterday I saw 2 128is in the morning on the same road. On a given day, I probably see 2 maybe 3 128is. The 1 has always been a rare car, and I'm surprised to see so many, anyone else noticing this?

This makes no sense for a car that has been out of production for 2 years. Yes, they are more affordable used, but they had to come from somewhere (i.e., previous owner bought new).

Think about it - it's physically impossible for there to be "more on the road" than when they were in production. Some are surely lost every year in accidents, and none are being replaced. You see more of them because you notice them now, and didn't pay any attention to them earlier.

Pretty much this. You presumably own one now, so you're probably more cognizant of them.

Same thing happened to me when I bought my 135i a few months back.

I think it has to do with people using them more as daily drivers. First owners were less likely do drive them as a daily driver. Now that second and even third owners have them, they just drive them more. They didn't shell out the kinda money the first owner did. So my conclusion is that they are just plain being driven more, not that there are more of them. Yes, plus the fact of once you own a certain car you do tend to notice them more.

not a daily driver? if ANYTHING the 1-series was made to be a daily driver, IMO. Doubt many people kept it locked away as a garage queen....if they did then that's unfortunate, IMO.

I though the same thing the other week. I have been seeing at least 4 a day. I have seen almost 20 different 1's in the past two months.

I rarely see them, and they've always caught my eye (even well before getting one). Love that they're rare.

I do see a bit more than when mine was new. It could just be the first owners coddled theirs and the used car owners just daily them.

I DD mine, that is what a car is made to do. It funny to hear people say that they'll get more money because the car was only driven in the sun, paved roads and has no salt or whatever they lay down for snow on the roads. Well, I have yet to see those as an option on KBB.......But unless you have some million dollar exotic thats only good to drive on smooth roads then I understand.

I don't see many 1er's at all. I saw one yesterday and the last time I saw one before that was at least 2 weeks ago. Thats the usual for me, every 2 weeks or so seeing another 1. I mainly see 3 series and X3/5 series.

Crazy how many I've seen lately, and they're 128s, not 135s. I'm guessing people are starting to DD them more, most likely second owners. I've had my car 2.5 years, and it was rare to see even a couple a week

Have to fix that 2nd sentence for ya

It could just be the original lessor had to coddle theirs due to mileage restrictions and the used car owners just daily them more often.

I've been seeing a lot more in my area too! Mostly 128's. the first 2 years i had mine in country i saw probably 1 drive through with new york or ohio plates. over the last year and hafe or so, i've seen maybe 10. mostly old people though. like 60's. there was white vert i pulled up next to in town and had an older couple in it, completely stock, i said nice car and they said thanks. no conversation, just looked straight and kept driving. they didn't even notice i had the same car. they might have but didn't care. I've only seen 2 that had any type of noticeable mods on them. don't usually see them out here in the middle of no where.

This is definitely correct my 08 had 34500 miles when i bought it. I assume it was not a daily. I shopped casually for two to three months and saw lots of low mileage cars (especially convertibles). I also saw lots of higher milage lease returnes as far as i could see most of the lease returns ended up going to auction and probably ended up in other states.

My just bought 2011 had only 11K on the ticker!!! A lot of leased cars are low mileage for multiple reasons; cost or excess miles, not daily driver, etc. Most second owners are using it as a daily driver.

I've owned two of them, both 135s. Really only seen a little more than a handful of them in my neck of the woods. Mostly 128s. Saw a 135i a few weeks ago, gave the driver a thumbsup and he gave it right back to me.

Does anyone know the US sales numbers for the 1 series?

I'm curious how many were sold. I can only seem to find the global total

Looking at the mileage on the used cars for sale now it looks like most were daily drivers though among the 1Ms there are a bunch of garage queens but they were rare anyway.

I see two 128 verts in the Alexandria area on my commute. Then again I also see 15 3 series and usually 2 m3's and a m5.
