You're right - it's only $500, but I do feel that it's a slimy way to run (or, more appropriately, not run) the club discount. If it ends up being true, my decision's made; I have enough bs in my life without getting it from a company I'd be handing $38k over to.

Exclamation

I know somebody at the BMW CCA, and asked if the "no membership rewards for the 1er" was true...

So, in response to:

Presumably a member called the office mid October inquiring about rebates on the 1.

On Oct 17, 2007 BMW NA wrote to BMW CCA concerning this question.

I agree the options list can be an absolute buzz kill man. BUT, I dont think the point of the little car with the BIG engine is to tick off everything on the options list. A 135i with premium and sport comes to 40k before negotiations/ED/etc. I honestly think when the car gets some street cred the prices wont seem so outrageous. I can obviously see that you can afford the car from the list of your vehicles. Its the principle that bugs you but dont forget its the only car in its class. As in, car thats smaller than a civic coupe/scion tc but faster than an E46 M3.

And btw Slik, you are absolutely right. THANK YOU INFINITI. Without them there would be no N54!!

that's dead on what I would want on my 1er... makes me think twice. I just got myself an '07 GS350 with basic options. and it was priced about the same as the OTD price of the 1er you have spec'd out.

Why does one need PDC on a 1 series????????
Why does one need the Premium package?
Why does one have to have a crappy Nav for $2,100 when a Garmin Nuvi is $300 at Costco and works MUCH better than the BMW nav???

Also, if the seats are powered in the Sport, BMW will take some off the price when Sport/Premium is ordered, so it's not the full price of both packages added together.

BMW just can't win. They offer a big engine in a small car that's reasonably light (but could be a little lighter) because people B!tch about how complex the new cars are and how they need to go back to basics and keep things simple.
So they offer this car and now everyone want's ALL the bells and whistles and then b!tches about the price. Not to mention the extra weight this will all add to the car.

^^ one sometimes just needs everything just to have it straight from the factory. That doesn't always mean it's a good thing, but it's already built into the car.

Either because you want some options that are not available outside this package (like the kick-a$$ Coral Red leather, or auto-dimming/folding mirrors, or adjustable lumbar support etc.) or because it's a little cheaper than getting all these separately.

Me, I'd rather have the leather/cloth or simple cloth, but if I can't have that in the US, I'll take the Coral Red leather.

It works better in some respects, but not in others. My main dislikes of the Garmin is that the 3-D map update is too slow for spirited driving (happened in Europe a lot) and that it looses track in long tunnels (also happened in Europe at the worst time, around Lake Como). But, I still won't give $2k to BMW for their nav... probably...

What I found most interesting about that other poster's remark is that he found $7000 difference between similarly equipped 135i and 335i coupes to be not a big deal. Hello???

Sorry man, but go check BMW Canada's website...it says right on there that US cars have NO warranty in Canada, aside for Roadside Assistance. Any servicing/repair work you'd either have to pay for, or take the car to a dealer in the US...and that just blows

Screw it. I'll save for a few months and put money down for the 135 to get the payment right if I end up going BMW this time around. I've always wanted a twin turbo, and this car is the cheapest way to get into a new one, believe it or not. I'd probably keep the car well beyond what fashion dictated anyway. I know I would drive it and love it.
