Would you replace 1M with... ?
I love my 1M! I love everything about it. I always knew that it will take another very special car to replace it. Now I have an opportunity to get M4 GTS. One of 700. Sadly I can not have both.
Question is...... Would you replace 1M with M4 GTS? |

No the M4 is way to big...the only thing I would replace it with right now is a Cayman GT4!

porsche GT4 seems worthy to me as a 1M replacement not M4 for me. Can't think of much else to replace 1M. But if M4 makes you happy then go for it! Jaguar is making new versions of their HKSS . Looks beautiful would consider that and maybe Ford GT if I stretched a bit.

No! The 1M is unique in character and driving characteristics. You will never get another one like it. M4 is bleh compared to the 1M. I can only imagine the M4GTS would be a better version of so so. Sorry but I drove it at the M driving school and wasn't impressed. 1M is a keeper...never selling.

Well for those suggesting to go with Boxster Spyder or Cayman GT4 - if you're fine with losing 2 seats in the process, sure, although I would argue that Boxster is more suited for the streets than the GT4 just because the GT4 is a track focused car. Some people can live with it as a weekender

Having ridden in a GT4 on the track the car is no more harsh than the 1M. What would bother me day to day is the wing blocking your rearward view and I don't believe there is an optional backup camera or even sensors. I could probably deal with that... The car is nothing like the 1M. Very composed, competent car.
To answer the OP, I am very happy in my 1M and the only cars I would consider would be a GT4, Boxster spyder, 996/997.1 GT3. Different price point to purchase and maintain. |

Second that...
But after 5 years, I'm still hard-pressed to look at other cars other than window-shopping. Here's the thing about the 1M. It is totally irreplaceable as stated above. It is an experimental car FFS! It's the original. The one that righted the M-ship and set its course for the next decade. Every small M-car after will reference the 1M. M2? Yeah, they still won't shut up about how it compares to the "imperfect" 1M. Every performance car is going the way of high HP/torque turbocharged engines. Which car did it in the most fun way? The 1M. I personally can't wait to try out the new 718 Spyder with its turbocharged, high-torque 4 cylinder. I bet it's a blast, and precisely what that car needed to make it a lot more fun. |

gt4 and 911r are the hardest cars to get at the moment plus they cost way more than the original price of a 1m
how about similar price as a 1m and also needs to have 4 seats |

Clearly they don't generate the nostalgia of the 1M, but they are incredible driver's cars. That flat 6...as great as the new 4 (and the N54) is, I'm a sucker for NA. |

If I had a 1M I would be nuts to "replace" it with another car. They're not gonna go down in value and they're sweet cars. Why you would sell one to make a lateral move is totally beyond me. Yes, I consider the M4 to be a lateral move even though it has better performance stock. Finally, if you can't afford to keep both cars you probably aren't in financial condition to drive either one.

I'm hanging onto mine for as long as I can (maybe another 15+ years) and any other car will be in addition to it. I'm hoping I will always have the funds to maintain it in fairly good if not great shape (mechanically) |
