Love it and questions!
Hi guys,
I am so happy I found a 1 series forum! I just got my 2011 64k miles 135i!!! Couple of points and questions. 1- How is it possible that such an expensive car is already leaking oil from the valve cover gasket and from the oil cap?????!!!! Just realized this oil leak as I read the multi-point inspection sheet from the dealer that sold the car to me. ( yes I read it after I had sign all the paperwork ) Also there is a strong burnt oil smell from time to time. 2- Any other items/things I should check on this car? I just bought it and it is my first BMW ever. 3- How expensive will it be to get the oil leak fix? 4- How can I know if I can connect by iphone via bluetooth? I have the M wheels, M steering wheels and M body kit, I also have sunroof and full screen with all the navigation and even a "phone button" that wont do anything when I press it, I do not find the telephone option that the manual talks about. Help with the phone please. I love this car!! Last, just want to thank you for answering my questions!! any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Carlos. |

Welcome to the forums, if you want more info be sure to check out e90post.com. I find that posts are less likely to go unanswered there.
1. Sounds like a semi common issue from what I read online. 2. Make sure the turbos dont rattle (wastegate actually) Look into a walnut blasting of the intake valves if this has not been done recently The fuel pump is a common failure item, as well as injectors 3. The part itself is like $20. Labor on the other hand I am unsure about 4. What happens when you push the button above the telephone on the wheel? Mine promots me for voice input (I have bluetooth) Do you have any phone related menus on the radio? |

The vakve cover is made out of plastic. Its been known to crack. You should inspect yours. Would be a good time to replace the spark plugs too(due at 45K miles). Vale cover gasket oil leaks will also cause a vacuum leak.. that would make your engine idle rough. Same with a leaking oil cap.
Go into the radio menu and look for bluetooth options(IF your can even has that). The MULF box is in the trunk up near the rear seat(under the carpet, slightly left of center).

My dealer called me yesterday and told me they foud out the the valve cover gasket is leaking along with an oil filter gasket. I'm no longer on the 4 years 50k plan, they wanted to charge me 650 for fixing the oil filter leak, but said they will fix the valve cover leak for free becuase it falls under emmisions.
