Hah! A man after my heart. Gawd those two tone silver-gold BBS wheels absolutely were the baddest thing on wheels! I saw an 87 guards red turbo about 6 months ago riding on some. I have to admit now they look just a –wee- bit tacky.

I'm still loving the silver ones though!

this whole thing is about looks - performance is secondary. Pretty sure on track the stock 1M will out drive this thing any day.

besides, this "eliminating the huge front tire and wheel gap, for a more homogeneous appearance. " is strange, considering how BMW spent millions of euros on development and then a suspension company says no, it's not right, let's lower it to look better.

Oh and the orange 1M with those BBS rims looks great! But I do like the BBS RS as well. Work of art!

Don't get me wrong. I think there is an advantage to lowering that has everything to do with track vs. everyday road handling. This is something that one can truly improve from stock.

It's just the whole changing-the-pitch-of-the-vehicle-just-for-looks that I agree is really misguided.

Actually it’ll probably be a bit quicker on track. The H&Rs are stiffer which will reduce body roll. They lower the car so the center of gravity is better. They will also increase the front camber. All of those will give it an advantage on the track. Now if the car is lowered so much it starts hard impacting the bump stops then all those advantages are out the door. Assuming that's not the case though it will almost certainly be just a bit quicker per lap.

The down side is the on the street ride will almost certainly be less smooth. Also if the camber is increased too much you will get poor tire life up front.

As you said though the springs really aren't intended for serious track work. I'm pretty certain they are for looking good when your rollin with your homies. (Isnt' that how they say it?)

My car feels really shaky, bumpy on the freeway doing anything above like 75. And I never noticed it before until recently. What do you think it could be? Hopefully one of my wheels aren't bent

+1. These are awful. I don't understand the fascination with changing the stock wheels, which are quite nice to begin with (unless it is purely a weight savings issue).

The drop looks nice though.

I love BBS basketweaves, but I have to say that just doesn't fit the 1M at all. Amazing on an E30 and everything from that era. For a 2011/2012, not so much. The best wheels I've see so far are still the OEM ZCP's actually.

The wheels remind me of something outta the 80s. BMWs are about clean, simple lines. These wheels do not accentuate that design

Gorgeous! Imho, bbs rs's would make even a Yugo look (somewhat) good ;-) cant understand that there would be any hate for the legendary wheel that inspires mesh-spoke style wheels right up until todays wheel designs. This is the best 1M I've seen to date.

Shouldn't those wheels be on a candy-apple red and gold interior mid-90's Mazda B2200 with hydraulics?

NEXT!

These were standard fitment on all M cars from the 80's. You can say you don't like them, but your statement, at best, is an oxymoron. At worst, it makes you look absolutely amateur.

According to Oxford Dictionary:
forum(fo·rum):

noun (plural forums)
1. A place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Expression of opinions is not an absolute indication of someone's maturity.

I actually like these wheels, but I am just sayin'
