I have a 2011 135 DCT, I'm planning on ordering a quaife limited slip,
Does any once knows if my diferencial case is bolted or welded???? Thanks |

Try Birds Auto in the UK or HP Autowerks in the US, send them the last 7 digits of your VIN and they should be able to tell you. I know the manual is welded, auto is bolted. Not sure about DCT.

Why would a manufacturer weld the differential? I'm just curious to know, because it really inhibits the desire to replace it with an LSD, and I think for maintenance reasons it is a bad idea. What if the differential fails and needs replacement?

Oh wait a minute. I think I'm understanding this wrong and I really haven't looked underneath my car. When they say a "welded differential", I thought they were referring to the diff being welded in place instead of using bolts to mount it, in which case it cannot be replaced unless there is some cutting involved. Am I looking at this the right way, or are people referring to other parts of the differential as "being welded"?

Do you think you could just add the M Differential from a DCT equipped M3? Or maybe the ratio wouldn't work.
