BMW Chips
How do you guys feel about chipping a 1 series? I have a 128i and have been looking at some chips but don't know if it is worth it. Opinions from anyone would be appreciated

By chip i assume you mean flash tune? Active Autowerke, Evolve, and a few other companies offer them for our cars(n52 or n51).
This topic has been beaten to death. TLDR; is that you need to swap intake manifold and tune for the most power difference. a tune will net you little horsepower gain by itself. poke around this section and you'll find plenty of info regarding this and more.

Last BMW that you could "chip" was from the early 90s.

Next level is the Active Autowerke Flash or Open flash tablet but they will cost you about double the price.

Pretty much.
I recently chipped the 911, which involved swapping a physical chip and moving a jumper/re-soldering the board to Euro specs.

lol easy there
Kgolf got good gains from the Active tune with the N51 and it helped remedy a throttle response issue he was having as well. I have it too, but I don't think I'd do it again for the price. There are other areas of the car I wish to improve more. I would just do a performance exhaust, it will make it 'feel' just as fast! |
