Install Video/Instructions

Use this video:

All the procedures of disassembly are the same, only difference is the actual "pinout" (wire colors and slot #s). You can get that from the PDF install instructions on BMS's website. The video and PDF inst's should be used together - watch the vid first. If any doubts, set yourseIf up to do the job on a day when there's no rush to use the vehicle, and if you have any issues along the way you can PM me and I'll try to respond right away. Then, you can call me if you don't mind talking halfway 'round the world...mate!

just looked through the video that fireflyer posted, WOW that looks complicated. I had watched the plugnplay one before and thought that was a little challenging but this is going to be a PIA but I'm sure it will be worth it. Fireflyer, did you disconnect the battery? The video says to but then the pdf says to wait for the car to go to sleep then start the process w/o disconnecting the battery.

wmj, do you have a tracking no. on your box yet?

Heaps of Aussies waiting with bated breath. It's either that, or run a nitrous tank imo.

did you have to re-unlock the car to open the hood though after 15 mins? i would have thought that would wake the car back up...

went on a cruise on the weekend and hit a few bad bumps, it became loose as I mustn't have tightened it hard enough when I first installed it. All back to normal now, way tighter this time round

To be clear, I opened the hood, then locked the car and waited 15 minutes before beginning the install.

Installed my BMS PowerBox during midnight. Installation is not very easy but it is manageable. The electrical part you just need the guts and a clear mind to do it. It took me about 1hr to work on the wires. The hard part for me is putting the covers and HVAC back together. It also took me 1hr...stupid plastic covers clips suck...but I managed to put them back together at the end.

I took it out for a spin and I'm impressed of the power and throttle response! Car is faster...how fast...um... it feels like a 129i? faster than 128i and slower then 135i? The power is definitely available through out the rev band especially higher rpm I can really feel the potential of the Injen intake =). I would say my car added about roughly 20whp combining the intake and chip. Will do some pulls later..gotta sleep now

btw It goes very well with the intake..peace

thanks for the quick review, look forward to hearing more impressions of it as your car settles in. I wonder if it will also make my 125i feel like a 129i, or rather just a 126i...

yeah, out of interest, what's the difference between the 125 and 128, must be just a slight difference in ECU map right?

Wonder how much it would cost to flash the 125i ecu with 128i software?

can't answer your question exactly, but to flash a 125i with the 130i software (190kw) costs 1800 euro... including shipping i calculated it out as AU$3400 all up. but even if you have that money lying around, i'm not sure who has the nerves to send their car's ECU literally around the world!!

Just watched the 135i JB3 pinout video (which Fireflyer239 linked above, post #68) which said we needed to unplug the battery - I'd much rather not do this, it sounds like you didn't?

The other install instructions from BMS (either the videos or PDF's, can't recall) give you both options. I just put 'er to sleep.

I'm really craving an exhaust and SSK now!
