aFe Mach Force XP Cat-Back Exhaust

SKU # 49-36302-P

I know it says cat-back, but after purchase it had me thinking. Is it truly a cat-back exhaust? The picture shows only axle-back and does not show mid-pipes that should come with an cat-back with replace the resonator that's already on the stock exhaust. I can't seem to find any real concrete info on this. Is aFe incorrectly labeling their product?

Sorry if it seems I'm overthinking this. Just don't want to open the box when it gets delivered tomorrow, I'd rather send it back and exchange for a true cat-back system if it was incorrectly labelled.

Thanks,

HavocSteve.

the secondary cats are part of the mid pipe, so I guess it could be called "cat-back"...

perhaps a more compelling argument on N55.

N54 has cat at midpipe stage, whereas N55 does not.

enjoy this exhaust if you like it louder, rawer with heaps of pops and burbling...I have the same exhaust.

I see that the N55 has the center silencer. Which is not a catalytic converter. Just don't like being lied to. I don't mind sound as my dad has a 1974 Trans-Am with a 494 big block (it sets off the 135i car alarm) and I used to drive a straight pipe 1987 E30 325is. So getting this exhaust seemed like the correct thing buy and at a deep discount cost. Guess I'll find out today when it arrives. I might hit up an exhaust shop to take out the center silencer if that's the case.

Did yours come with the mid pipes? or was it just basically a axle-back?

It is just an axle-back. Idk why the product is labeled as cat-back, but either way it sounds great.

if its just the axle-back, you may want to consider deleting your secondary cats and then modifying your current muffler (PE Mod) for the same price as the axle-back itself.

BMW stock exhaust systems are well designed and the piping is good quality, no need to replace it. the $500 savings are best spent elsewhere.

I just reached out to a local who is selling the same exhaust. So I might be able to return it for a full refund as I did inquire about this issue and they called aFe as well. They even mentioned that aFe mislabeled their products and that they must do different things there. So if the local selling in this forum responds and gives me a few days, I should save some money that way, and it would be a fair price. Not to mention a local 1er would get some $$ in hand as well. Just sucks, kinda in limbo mode right now.

Since you have n55 midpipe, I think going with just an axle-back is not a bad option. It is quite loud without aftermarket midpipes.
