How long until we get to see some more pics mounted on our cars? And what about 285/30 fitment?

And to top it off, the battery for my camera (3 day delivery), is an average delivery time IF YOU LIVE IN New York, course I'm in CA.

I'm at -2.7 deg, and need to raise the front, it's just too dropped right now, but there is no rubbing on the fender itself, but on potholes and big bumps barely rubs on the front bumper mounting tab. There's more than 1/2" clearance on the front fenders. If I add another 1/2" - 3/4" height (which I needed to do anyway, I'll have nada for issues. To note... NO SPACERS at all. Also, the rear fenders on my car are unmodified (front are though), and there's still at least another 1/2" from the 275 tire to the fender. Tires on my car are now 255/35/18 Direzza Star Specs, ad 275/35/18 Direzza Star Specs. Quite amazing that these tires fit in back with ZERO modification. |

One more to show the fatty 275s that fit with no problems... I messed with white brightness & contrast to make tires and wheels easier to see.
Also, as you can see, it's yucky out, hence the filthy car. |

I'm back and forth about what to do with my car. I REALLY want a 255/35 & 285/30 setup... But if I could go completely unmodified with a 245/35 & 275/35, I might consider this, as well... I hate these kinds of dilemmas... Regardless, this setup looks amazing! Last thing: Are these Anthracite or Hyper Black? (Sorry if you mentioned this before at some point...)

Those are Hyper Black. My last track wheels were anthracite, and wanted a little more shine. I can tell that they can look like anything from black to chrome, depending on the light and angle.
Thanks for saying they look amazing! It's always tough to gauge your own stuff, but I do like the look of them too. |

Glad you posted it up. I was waiting to hear your opinion on ride height. How do you plan on increasing it? I love how the rear sits though. Those wheels really fill it up back there!!! They Look absolutely radically awesome!!

Thanks Larry! With regards to ride height, your fronts must be bottoming out at that ride height on the track? I had it slightly higher than that previously and was bottoming out and had to raise it.
Bradford, which R-comps are you getting? What R-comps are available over there? I wouldn't mind buying a set and send it back here as generally speaking your prices are much better than ours. But we get a better range of R-comps here though. The best at the moment has to be Dunlop DZ03G, but I hear the RE-11S (not the RE-11 which aren't R-comps) are just as good if not better. Can you get either of those? |

I did rub with R comps on last season, but never on the road, at that height. With this APEX setup, the way that I currently have it, I'll be fatter and rub-free. I'm at -2.4 deg right now. and I might be able to get -2.2 deg, but not much squarer than that, with the 255's on. There is no problem driving it on the street or highway like that (just got back from a blast). I did take an onramp at 90mph apex > exit speeds, that I never have been able to do before. The back was on the edge, but the front wanted more. Want to see more 1ers mount theirs up, but the 8.5 and 9.5 setup should be able to be used for the street with 235F and 275R, direct bolt on, no spacers, no BS. |

I recall that you autox, do you think going with 235F and 275R will make the understeer worse? I haven't ordered my tires yet, but plan on Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec. My 135 is my daily driver, but will be doing occassional track time. |

I'm finding that I have more grip in front than the rear right now. I think I've scrubbed off the newness of the tires already, and it seems that I could even dial out some understeer, even with 275's back there. Last edited by larryn; 02-07-2010 at 02:52 PM.. |

Larry already had roll front fenders, but they are not needed for 255's to fit with the proper amount of camber. But because he rolled, he can run less to make them fit. As mentioned numerous times to those who inquire about this setup. Camber plates on the 1 series are a must if you want to fit ANY worth while tire/wheel combo up front. The needed amounts of camber for fitment don't kill tires at all. Poor toe settings kill tires. Not having camber plates results in positive camber while turning, and that causes more premature tire wear then anything, since you never get to load up the inner edge of the tire. These wheels, plus plates = the ultimate meaty setup. Simple formula I'm updating the first post of this thread to remove the groupbuy information and provide up to date content. The pricing listed is still correct: 18x8.5" $289 and 18x9.5" $314 plus shipping. Last edited by Eddy@ApexWheels; 02-07-2010 at 03:21 PM.. |

There are 2 sets of Anthracite in stock right now, along with a number of Satin Black sets. Hyper Black and Hyper Silver are on a 2-3 week back-order. With people already signing up for those colors. The second container will contain more of all 4 colors, but they're going fast.
These were produced in low quantities, and the next shipment won't arrive until around June. Now is the time to grab a set of these. |

If you want to, feel free to use my ARC-8 pictures for whatever you may want. I have full rez ones if you would like them mailed to you. I plan on eventually having a clean car and taking better ones, but not within the next week, as I'll be in SF,CA beginning late tomorrow... not to mentioned the snow storm we're supposed to get this week. |

Because of how I was shorted certain wheels in the last production run, there's only one set of Anthracite left (arriving in 1-2 weeks). I have a bunch of rears, but not enough fronts... yay...
The other colors are low on volume as well, but should last at least another month or so. I've started another order last night. Those wheels will be arriving middle to end of May. This schedule is pretty accurate. There are no tests or new modifications that can delay things. Shouldn't be more then 1-2 weeks flux +/- of that date. A second groupbuy will be open for those sometime in March, because it will be the only way to get wheels. |

larryn,
what coilovers are you running? how is the strut to tire clearance on the front? Is the shoulder of the tire below your spring perch? If so what length springs are you running? spring rates?
