Yeah, I notice it more and more. That pseudo attempt to have LSD creates some weird movements in the rear off the line and in turns.

Wheel options. I love a wider footprint and the ability to add some more substantial concave to the wheels. So I think it's the offset I dislike?

I'm so NEW to this eDiff/LSD stuff. I've been reading and know the mechanics behind how it works and what it does, but what DOES it feel like? I've never experiences an LSD before.

A proper LSD works to ensure that both wheels hooked up to it(rear in our case) spin at same speed. The idea being that if one tire loses grip, power is rerouted to the other tire that still has grip. Doing this makes the rear end more predictable(as both sides are sliding at equal rates), increases traction, and allows one to go faster as more power can be utilized without wasting it to spin.

The eDiff simulates a LSD by applying brake force to limit slip. It is an imperfect system at best, which by its very nature limits your power(instead of utilizing it), increases component wear(such as the brakes), and lacks the predictability of a proper mechanical setup.

honestly....most people will never notice whether they have an LSD or an E-Diff in every day driving. you will notice on a track OR if you are driving 9/10ths somewhere....which you shouldn't be doing on the street. Much of the LSD-lust is more psychological than anything else don't believe the hype!

BTW, the cupholders in the E82 may be the worst ever made. really.....it's like a drink nightmare. I pick up coffee in the mornings sometimes....but now i have to finish half of it before i start driving---if i don't, that stuff splashes everywhere!

I notice the e-diff almost every day, and I do NOT drive 9 or 10/10ths on public roads. When I pull out from my complex, there is a patch of slick pavement. In my RX-8 with a Torsen LSD, if I put the power down at that spot on the road (a turn-out), most of the time the Torsen would distribute the torque and the TC would never activate.

With the 1-series, yes is has more power, but at the same speeds, pulling out onto this stretch of road, the TC almost ALWAYS activates and I can feel it in the rear, braking the wheels.

In the rain or snow, or even slick dry pavement, you can notice the difference between an LSD and not having one.

Have you driven a car with good electric power steering? I came from one and honestly it felt very very similar to hydraulic. I have obviously driven other non-sports-cars that were over-boosted and terrible to drive but that doesn't mean an electric rack has to suck.

After 1200 miles of break in period, I am heading to the dealer tomorrow for an oil change before I push the pedal a little more. The only issue I have with my 1 is the fuel tank size and the early warning the car gives. Even when supposedly empty there is easily a gallon of fuel in the tank.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before but I HATE the fact that when you get an incoming phone call the "tooltip" for the hang up button covers the name of whomever is ACTUALLY CALLING!!!!

Srsly? In all the software updates and stuff no one at BMW has ever seen that and thought "well that's a bit silly"... ???

All these things have probably been posted already... but anyways, what I dislike about the 135i:

1. Throttle is super shitty for cruising, I've owned this car for a couple months now and it's still hard to keep the car cruising at the same speed while maintaining a stable MPG.

2. I can't see the FULL instrument cluster (revs/mph), without adjusting it to a weird position... because of how I like the steering wheel positioned...

Other than that there's minor inconvenient stuff like terrible wheel offsets, lack of LSD, lack of camber adjustment in front, heavy runflats, all of which can be fixed.

The M4 seems like the perfect car for me which addresses all of these problems and more! Probably gonna get an e92 335is as my next car (in 3-4 years) and then the m4

Yeah, what are those, the 335 sport wheels? I am just missing my 11" concave wheels with 305 tires that I had on my 350z.

LOL! I have no idea what speed I am doing between 60 and 160, or what RPM I am doing between 3000 and 6000.

Good thing the car communicates so well.

Have you guys considered getting the digital speedo coded on? It goes on the top line of your odometer/trip computer, or takes up both lines if you have a DCT. Perhaps that might solve half of that so you at least know what speed you're going. =P It just gets added as another menu option when you cycle through with the left stalk through the various menus like mpg, average speed, etc.
