Agreed, just replaced the RFTs and the ride is much better and I get way more feedback from the Hankooks compared to the stockers.

THE BLIND SPOTS! I got a convertible 135i with no PDC so it is almost impossible to back out of a parking space without worrying that someone might be next to you.

But all the wonderful things about this car take away from that one issue so. Blah!

Funny, one of the reasons I went with a 135i vs. a 370Z was how good I thought the visibility was in the 1er. I think it is darn good, especially for a small sports coupe.

My biggest grip is lack of a real spare tire. Second biggest is worries over expensive repairs. Third is probably fuel mileage. I'm currently reading 20.6mpg or so. Better than my STI by 1-2mpg, and I do mostly drive city from home to work, pretty short trip, so it is somewhat understandable I'm on the low range.

Many have said this before me and I will repeat, the amber corners on the headlights. So ugly! I wish we had euro headlights here in Canada.

Good call.

All of the previous BMWs I owned had a full-sized spare... Disappointing when I think about it.

1. RFT's and lack of a spare tire. I hate these things...if your stuck and you need to order a tire through a tire shop its over 400$...that's ridiculous for a tire and they ride like shit
2. RFT's ... suck ass...feels like im driving a car with plastic tires
3. Lack of a limited slip differential. There are some cars which cost half the price of the 1er and have it. But that would make the 135i better than the m3 and BMW cant have that.
4. Crappy sounding stock stereo. My dads Honda Odyssey sounds better

True. I live near the on ramp to Interstate and work not too far from the off ramp (about 7 miles between ramps). Pretty good mpg not having a lot of stop/go.

Biggest complaint for me is road noise. I guess it would be tolerable if the base stereo didn't suck so bad, but it can barely overcome the howl from the tires.

Once the Bridgestones wear out, I'll be trying something different. It certainly can't get any worse.

Today I pulled into an end parking space, and shut off the car. I decided to move the car closer to the curb, and started it with the door open. I tried to shift the DCT into reverse, but it wouldn't let me, until I shut the door. I had a German nanny as a child - looks like she is back...

Dislikes:
  1. RFTs - I replaced them 17 hours after picking up the car
  2. The awful "orange" halogen rings in the headlights - angel eyes ordered
  3. Not being able to start it without foot on the brake. The nanny functions, rings, dings, messages etc - need to look at coding
  4. No volume display on the stereo?
  5. Fuel tank size - can't do much about that
  6. The DCT shifter and the way to put it into gear etc. - the way the Golf R shifter worked was much more sensible and a much better shape
  7. Lack of storage spaces up front inc. cup holders - bloody awful and shows an absence of design imagination

Things that don't really concern me, that might be dislikes for others:
  1. Fuel consumption - I bought the car to have fun and that sport button will be glowing most of the time, I never expected great mileage
  2. Rear seat legroom - my kids are grown up, if you wanna sit in the back it's your problem not mine, I won't be there. I would have gotten a 2 seater if I could have found one I liked (and afford) that easily took my golf clubs

Only had it a few days and I know I'm gonna love it

I may change my mind when my car finally arrives here, but two so far.

1. Price - anyone?
2. No mechanical LSD - torsen or viscous would suffice, I would gladly pay $500 for an option

2. too damn heavy for the size...damn progress and comfort stuff, i've gotten soft enough that for a dd i wanted all the gizmos, plus all the safety and we have a small, reasonably nimble car...that could have been so much better.
3. understeer (easy enough to fix, shocks/springs/e93 sway on the way)
4. rfts, shame to get rid of the tires in such good shape...not sure what to do
5. the little things...
ac not impressive
can't see the radio until i take off my sunglasses
the info center could have more info instead of just a bunch of idiot lights...kind of like the way audi does it with text readout...

and brake dust...i've never owned one running oem pads that wasn't terrible, at least my 1 has the 5 spoke wheels. my previous zhp had awesome looking wheels but a huge PITA. If you don't want dust you've got to go aftermarket. My best experiences were with axxis metal masters...about 75% of initial bite, and similar braking as soon as they got up to temp...much, much less dust

i'm going to have to try the armor all stuff...
What shocks and springs did you go with? do you like them, and did they effectively mitigate understeer?

Center console. Has anyone found anything useful for it yet? I swear it is the most useless thing ever! If that is my biggest complaint, must be an awesome car!

stubby trunk

Love the car, but would like it even more if the trunk were not so short, giving the lines of the car a stubby look. It still looks great.

1. The fcking rattles everywhere
2. RFTS
3. 90% of the chimes
4. Lack of dipstick
5. The amount of crap you need to take off to get to the coil packs and injectors. Motor cowl is evil.

There is alot about the 1 that I dont like. But the wheelbase is nice and the motor is off the charts good. So im a happy camper.

1, 2, and 3 are all fairly easily fixed...
