Have any of you guys noticed that there seems to be a variable redline on the tacho in these pics? In the first pic there are white dashes all the way from 4000rpm. It looks like the hardware is all there for a variable redline, but the software isn't programmed for it.
EDIT: It's even a 320i, not a fancy model like the 330i, so the extended redline guauge must even be in the base models too. |

I happened to be in a friend's VW last night.. the blue lights of the interior were pretty cool I gotta say. But to put it into a BMW would definitely be weird. Gotta keep it the traditional BMW amber!

I think it looks nice. But it would be better if all the interior lights are done like that. Even better, I think white lights would be sharp. My RX330 has a really nice cluster.

I went over to Acurazine the other day and some guy was installing blue lights in his door handles, he said that it looked luxury like the 7 series, but there were just these huge neons lighting up the handle, not the ground, however they did match his underglow neons very well

i agree with the "tradition" argument but i love the blue. if you have it combined with exterior colors like interlagos blue or mystic blue, i think it would be a cool combo. who gives a $hit that VW has the same color. how many other makes use amber or similar colors as their instrument panel colors? lots!

bmw uses amber because it is easier on your eyes. they've been using it for a long ass time. those look un-bmw, borderline ricey (think indiglo guages).

There's a reason why BMW have used red interior lights over at night for extended periods with less eye strain. Change if you like, but know there is a reason for it other than *tradition* or red *just to be different*.
BTW! No hatin' here! Danny

Actually there's a perfectly logical explanation to the use of amber lights: In the dark, the eyes focus more easily and rapidly on them, it helps having a readout at a quick glance. Same reason astronomers use red lights to check maps and papers while observing in their backyards.

Looks different, and that's ok. I would'nt want to change out the rest of the bulbs in my car to match it up.

I like them. I moved from a VW to my E90, and was actually dissapointed not to have cool blue dash lights anymore. Not saying I would change mine, just saying I dont care for tradition, I just care for what looks good to me.
