Tesco 99 for me too. Was down to 109.9p per litre at the weekend, so hopefully might be even cheaper now if Tesco have responded to Asda and Morrisons dropping their prices

Funny you say that... I was using Sunoco Ultra 94

But then I went back to Shell V-Power 91

And I found that the car seems to run better.

It might be because the change of going back and forth is good. Or it could be that our cars run better on Shell. Or it could just be me.

But since you posted, I thought I would post the same. I used Sunoco 94 mainly because in my area others were selling only 91 octane, that was why I went with Sunoco and paid the even higher price. Hmmm

Hmmmm maybe I did notice a difference... but now I might be "drinking" more than before. Well with prices lower, I don't mind... I love the power!!!! Even though most days I do not use it. It's just nice to know when that big black 1 tonne pickup is there, and being an ass, I can zip around and not be bullied, like I felt in my old Corolla. LOL I am still the 110 lb weakling though, I just drive a 1.

Doing my advanced driving test shortly, been practicing. It is soooo hard to keep to the 30mph speed limit. One good thing has come out of it, I save fuel, but then again if the fuel prices are dropping i might put my foot to the floor once again!

I have a hard time keeping under 140 km/h

Here if we go 50 km/h over the limit (usually 100 km/h) our cars can be taken away. Thanks to the street racing kids.

I have mine set to "ding ding" when I hit 140 to remind me, another 10 and if a cruser is around, I could loose the car. I usually slow down and blend in with the other cars...

You must be talking about side roads. I go about that I guess. I like to keep it slow because here pedestrians have right of way, and they know it. And that is even j-walking. So, it's best to keep the speed limits always, I would not want to hit a kid. Cars kill pedestrians! Highways is another story. In these cars we have a huge advantage over "normal" cars.

Agreed, but keeping to 30Mph is tricky, especially in these cars when you are literally changing into 2nd at this speed.

Think they should introduce laws like in the movie Deathrace 2000

I've obviously been out of the country too long!

When I left the UK I was bitching about regular unleaded being 84.9p a litre & now people are chuffed that it's dropped below a quid again!

Sign of the times I guess.

I always used Shell V Power for my 'performance' cars. Always felt smoother than with any other premium stuff. Although I did try that Tesco super high octane stuff (was it 99 or 104? I can't remember) & it seemed ok.

We're currently at 60p a litre for the good stuff here.

Hi Creepy Coupe,

As the strap-line says I only use Tesco 99 now. The car is much smoother than when I used to run it on Shell Optimax or BP Ultimate.

I also have the SSTT, which is not as smooth as stock (more boost at part throttle) and the Tesco 99 really helps here.

I've always used Chevron ever since I can remember on all of my cars until I was nearing empty on my Z33 on day and had no choice but Shell.

That was the beginning of a happy relation between myself and Shell :wub:

I noticed that throttle repsonse a bit peppier and over all MPG was improved. Not that I am knocking on Chevron but Shell to me, I feel is a much better over all fuel.

Obviously not only Shell works well... but the point here is:

"not all premium gas is good for our 1!"

Do not assume that the gas in your area is good just because it has "higher" octane.

I want to also point out, many years ago, in another life... I was driving a FSB Tempo... I would buy no-name gas, at the same place for almost a year. Well it was in the shop and needed work bad. I was told that the gas I used had done damage. The mechanic told me that not all gas is equal and not all stations are good. Some older stations have bad tanks.

So not only choose your gas well, but be leary of stations. Not all are the same, just because they say "shell" or "BP" or what ever.

Depends on how busy the petrol station is too.

A fast turn around of petrol stocks means fresher petrol in your tank.

I don't know if it psychological but my car always feels better when I get gas from a large, busy brand name petrol station.

yeah not the greatest analogy, was trying to show that even the "branded" can not do things right. I never thought about how old the petrol is... good point. Busy new branded station is best. For me, that's Shell Premium Gas so far.
