Y not just buy a single user BT tool.. if someone is willing to scan your car who has one, they will be using up their 1 out of 3 spots.

It will be worth while to get one anyways especially if you are going to put some mods on your car.

Garage List
If you are running a tune, the BT goes hand in hand. Best $ you can spend (after tune)

As others noted if you're running tuned there really isn't any excuse for not having a BT tool. The 1 vin tools can't be bought separately, just spend the 3 hundo for a 3 vin one ($200 of which you can get back when you sell it) or buy a used one.

From what I've seen the BT tool is the one thing you can't afford to *not* own if you're running higher than stock boost.

If you're in a jam and need a scan immediately contact a local independent BMW shop, most will read your ECM to diagnose problems for free (at least the first time, lol).
