Rear Folding seats in Vert??

So I was looking at the 1ers today at the local dealership. Does anyone know the answer to this question? It appears the coupe comes standard with a 60/40 split folding seat in the 128i or 135i. Does any version of the vert have that option??

It is my understanding that the rear folding seat is not available in the vert. It does have the opening for the pass through with the cold weather package...if that helps any.

No folding seats in the vert. That's where the roll-bar mechanism lives.

That's one thing that I will really miss, as I go from Coupe to Convertible... the cargo capacity. The Coupe's cargo handling capabilities are quite impressive, and the 'vert's are quite pitiful.

edit: Also, the 'vert's rear seat pass-through, which provides a small amount of additional storage, sacrifices BOTH rear seats when in use... which is terribly unfortunate, IMO. This is in stark contrast to the Coupe's ski bag pass-through, which doesn't sacrifice either seat, and unlike the Coupe's 60/40 fold down seats which provide extra cargo capacity, and retain rear passenger seating. The Coupe has the 'vert whipped on this one.

^^^ That is what I am looking at. Saw the trunk space in person today for the first time in a coupe and the convertible. Especially when you throw in the folding rear seats, there is quite a difference in trunk space.

Bringing this one back from the dead because of the one point made - when the pass through is used on the vert, the rear seats are unusable? How is that? Both seats?

Part of the back of the rear seats folds down over the two rear seats and makes them unuseable

I think the vert has plenty of space... when compared to my old s2000 or miata. It's all about what you need and are used to

Any chance you could snap a pic? Seems kind of silly... So the integrated door actually is attached such that some of the rear seatback frame or cushion comes forward with the flap? It is enough overlap that the seats are really covered? How much of the rear seat gets taken out? Are we talking an inch of the bolster or a quarter of the whole seat or what?

Thanks!

It's enough to make them unusable for people. There's hardly any space back there to begin with.

You can see that both back seats become unusable with the pass though being used. Note my comments on the look of the seats with and without the pass through.

Oh, you mean that place we put grocery bags is supposed to be a back seat? With some stuffing, we can get one golf bag passing though the seat, and a second one placed sideways at the rear of the trunk. If someone could come up with a secure harness that would let golf bags ride in the back seat like "passengers", I'd buy it today.
If you're looking for something more practical, I think there are some great minivan deals out there, but I'll keep my convertible and deal with traveling light.

But convertible can fit much longer in vertical direction. Sometimes it is better.

Hmmmm, I think you read something between the lines in my post that wasn't there. I'm still missing it on the reread. The thread was talking about fitting things and people in a fun but somewhat impractical car. I commented on how I fit large objects in my car. I love my car but it ain't no minivan (which is one reason why I love it). If you or an immediate family member were involved in the design of the back seat/trunk space, then I apologize if I offended you. However, I don't want that contingent apology to offend any owners, designers, or admirers of minivans either.

I picked up on it too. You were a bit rude. No, not rude...your post just seemed angry. It's was the kind of post that would make me ask you to take the broom out of your ass or put it through your rear seat passthrough.

You know, I suppose I should be honored that such a prolific poster should take time out of his busy day to give his insightful analysis of my posts. Do you also do handwriting analysis Dr. Freud?

As a two time MX-5 (miata, mazdaspeed miata) owner, moving over to a 123D vert for the extra "seats" I'm with you Czar. Certainly don't go to the extra expense, poorer acceleration, and slightly poorer handling of a vert if you want practicality. However, if you want this ... ..., just do it.

Oh, and I've transported a 7' high tree home from the nursery in the MX-5. Probaly have trouble doing that in a coupe.

Cheers,
Alf

Space in the vert is great, especially with the roof down! Just compare it to a 3er vert or Z4 with the roof's down and see the difference. In comparison both of those cars are appalling.

Even with the roof down I can fit two golf bags (carry bags) with drivers long ways. With the roof up I can also easily get 2 trollies in with some playing around!
