2018 Honda Civic Type R?
I have always owned Honda's or Acura's since 1988. I switched to BMW in 2016. I love my 2016 Black Sapphire M235i XDrive but the Type R is nagging at my brain. Would any of the members consider switching? How much performance would be given up? Thanks

Outside of 0-60, performance maybe better with the type r. I would imagine the type r would have no problem keeping up from a roll and in the canyons or track, advantage type r. With that said I'd be inclined to say even going down to Honda's most hardcore civic still might be a downgrade from a 235. Sometimes you want what you want and nothing else really matters.

I definitely would consider it. It has all the looks, performance, and practicality I was looking for. Between it and the M2, I ended up with the M2 because I just don't believe in paying over MSRP for a car, even though I could afford it.

I fully respect the performance and comfort, but I just can’t stand looking at the thing....and I used to own an Intrgra Type R back in the day, so i am a Honda fan.

Would have been sweet if it were available with the classic white rims.
Anyhow, this car screams "boy racer." It's terribly over styled, I wouldn't be caught dead in one. |

I would like to purchase one. Hopefully one day I will get a chance to do, a Championship White one for Sure! But I would NOT let go of my Z4M Coupe for a Type R.
The Z4M Coupe is just way to special to let it go for a Civic. But for sure I wouldn't mind having it as part of my garage some day.

In this case, I would be more worried about the performance to loss of money value.
If I was in the market for either M235 or CTR, I'd choose a CTR. If I owned an M235, I would keep the M235. Though I favor the CTR, I do not think the loss of money in depreciation and sales tax offsets my fondness. YMMV The CTR seems to be 1.0x seconds faster around a local SoCal track, streets of willow which is very short and tight. (according to fastest laps.com) May assume that CTR is more fun to drive. |

I like the car & specs but I wish the styling was toned down a little. If I had to get one I would get it in silver.

CTR is hideous looking, and that's being kind. If you're into the boy racer scene have at it. It's too bad the Accord Sport has no guts, that wasn't a bad looking ride for the price.

Love the civic beast. It ran the ring in 7:43.8 seconds. Wow. That is one hell of a fast time considering it's front wheel drive.

I have only seen one on the road (gray). It looks much more exotic in real life than I would have thought. The only problem - it looks much more exotic. Everything looks great IMHO except the rear wing. I just couldn't see myself driving to work or a client in that. If they made it without the rear wing, it'd be a winner for sure in the smiles per mile.
I'm sticking with my GTI for a while. Next car up for me - probably a used M3 or 911.
