My brand new 135 exceeds all expectations (of course)
Every since my dad picked up an M5 a little over two years ago my family has become quite the model BMW customers. I was driving an Acura RSX at the time and after one ride in the M5 I knew the RSX just wouldn’t do any longer. Then I went with my dad to the M driving school in South Carolina and upon getting back I got a Z4 3.0si. Since then my parents have had an X5 and they just got a 535xi wagon and my wife got a 328 sedan at the end of last year. So as my lease was coming to an end I was pretty sure I wanted to get another BMW and I had my eye on the 135 ever since I had heard about it shortly after getting the Z4. I did tons of comparisons with the 335 and even looked at some other manufactures but, of course, came back to the 135. I ordered it to come at the end of my lease and after weeks of anxious waiting and wondering if I had made the right decision it arrived 3 weeks ago and put all my fears to rest the moment I saw it (and especially the moment I drove it!)
After driving a wide range of BMWs and really getting to push the M cars in South Carolina, the 135 really delivers everything I was looking for and is very nearly an M car itself. It reminds me the most of the Z4 M roadster, but a little more refined and much more practical. It has the twitchyness of always wanting to go faster that is there in all the M cars and the fantastic speed as well. The only area where I have found it to come up a little short of deserving an ///M badge is the handling. While always great and far superior to almost anything else, way out at the limits it feels much safer than an M as the understeer is so much more obvious. But I just figure this will keep me out of trouble  Compared with the Z4, this car is in all respects far superior (well, except that I can't put the top down anymore). It has a much more forgiving ride (the Z4 lets you really feel every bump on the road) and I love all the extra torque on the low end. I always had to be aware of where my rpms were in the Z4—if I knew I was going to want to take off, I would have to downshift. No longer a problem in the 135. Even from 2000 rpm this car can accelerate SO quickly. Everything about this car is just effortless. I have included a few pics and the specs are: Crimson red Black leatherette Aluminum trim Manual transmission Sport Package Navigation Premium Hi-Fi iPod adapter |

Great looking car!! However, with a username like "uclalex", I am thinking you might be a UCLA Bruin fan?? If so, don't you think the Montego would have been better than the USC Trojan color??

Beautiful. I love the red, not sure why more people don't get it. It looks awesome in a coupe.

Congrats! Looks like we went through the same exact path besides the RSX. Z4's ride is definitely harsh and got annoying the last year. I don't mind a stiff ride, but riding on the rear axle is tough.
I got mine from Robert over at valencia, who did you get it from? |

I picked mine up from Lynn in fleet sales. Best buying experience ever. Everything was set up over the phone and I came in and signed all the paperwork in under 15 minutes. No hassle, everything as expected, and I at least felt like I was getting a good deal! This is the 3rd car I have personally bought from her in the last 2 years, and all have been equally fantastic.
I realized after picking it up that being a Bruin I should have the Montego. Especially a red BMW in LA--very USC. Nonetheless, I still love the color, it really completes the sports car look I wanted. I'll just have to slap my UCLA alumni license plate frames back on  |
