Active E M3 style hood
I have to get a new hood has anyone been successful in ordering this hood in the us? I called a couple dealers and they said they could not get it

Yeah, I think it's VIN-Locked ordering, meaning you have to provide a valid VIN number from an active E (proving that you own it), in order to get a new hood.. Kinda sucks because there aren't really any aftermarket hoods out there with the power bulge and WITHOUT vents. And all of them are carbon, no fiberglass or metal hoods..

Not if it is indeed VIN-locked, which is what I have heard from many people (but I don't have first-hand knowledge of this). To put the order in, they need to supply a valid VIN # that matches that of an Active E to BMW, or else their part request will be denied. They used to do this with a lot of ///M parts too. Keeps us "regular" BMW drivers in our place.
