Double Slat Grills

I have had the long running desire to improve the look of the grill on my car for some time now and decided I wanted to do something a bit more unique and go with a double slat grill. After watching a thread on the forum on getting some custom made I got a bit impeccant and went out to find my own source for double slat grills.

After some random searching I stumbled across a set on Amazon and recently discovered this made and shipped from china set of kidney grills is on many of the other china import sights (aliexpress and a few others).

Link to amazon: http://amzn.com/B01B1EM4MU

It came well packaged and took 16 days from order to ship to me. The slats are glossy and look great in my opinion, they have the sharp bend in the upper half that I really like compared to stock. The one thing I thought could be better was the thickness of the slats. The front facing surface of the slat is as thick as you would expect but the slat itself thins out just behind the face of the grill. This is not very noticeable and the slats seem to be as strong as the stock ones.

Overall I am very happy with the purchase and look forward to painting M color stripes on one of them. More Pictures Below.

Based on the set you got, can the grills be detached from the frame like oem?

Looks like a nice product but I personally like our single slat grills. BMW Grills, as subtly different as they all are, are representative of the car's place in the period.

Having seen them, I prefer the single slat. Glad you found a reputable seller and a quality part though, I'm sure a lot of people will be happy!

Also, thank you for taking the time to post, review, and take pictures.

I bought a set myself, thanks for posting the pictures, I was wondering what it would look like. I am excited for the change from my black single slat. It will be a nice change and I can rotate them when I get bored of the look!

The seller updated the listing and changed some of the wording so double slat no longer pulls it up here is the fixed link.

Yes they can, however I did not check to see if the tabs are in the same location.
