I saw a 1M in my little town last Saturday. That is rare. It was a beautiful AW and was being driven as enthusiatically as possible, given the traffic.

While they are certainly not rare by the numbers, they are no where near common. I see 135s with the same frequency I see Ferraris. 128s are a little more common I see them a couple of times a week.

I've noticed in the Boston area that 135's are much rarer than Porsche 997's. I see a 135 maybe twice or 3 times a month, but see the Porsche's daily. I see a 128 about every third or fourth day.

The other thing is that I have not yet seen a single 2 series in the boston area in the wild. I've seen them at dealer lots. I've seen tons of new 3 series and also the new M4, a couple 1M's but no 235i. I wonder if the two series is selling well.

The 135i is too new to be rare, but it is absolutely desirable. Best BMW in the last few years when cost is also a factor. Yes I would love to own a M car, but I can't afford one and my 135i, now that I ditched the run-flats, is the best car I have ever owned including 2 Porsche 911's in the late 80's early 90's.

would help if you put your actual location and not "908" which is meaningless. Area codes as locations only matter if it's 212, which every one knows. Otherwise, stick with the name of the place.

I'll assume (no, I am not looking it up) you're somewhere in Cali, which means yes, you (and I) are in 1-series land in the US (I even spotted a 1-series 5-door hatchback on Hayes two months ago - I think with consulate plates ). I see at least 1 135 per day, if not 2. And perhaps as many 128s. 1Ms are still rare though...maybe 1-2 per month, not including the one that lives across the street.

It will be eventually, but more than likely no one will ever care TBH.

It is an uncommon car to see though, at least in my area.

Nice thing about the 1-series: you know it when you see it (unlike most/all other BMWs, which look so much alike).

I get 3-series and Honda Accords mixed up. Common as water around here. I don't know how many 328i X drives there are, but they're the most common BMW around these parts. I like when some 30-sum looks down his nose when I pull up next to them and give them a little finger wave as I blow by them.

So juvenile but so much fun.

I have never seen a 1M in person.

As for the rare discussion, I'd say the 128i/135i are equally uncommon. A modded 1 series is what I would consider rare. I could probably count on two hands how many times I've seen a modified 1 series.
