128i Performance Parts?

Hello, i have been trying to find some performance parts for the 128i but all i have been finding is for the 135i.

Are there any good sites that have 128i parts?

Depends on what you're looking for...suspension, engine, etc.

I've got the BMW Performance Exhaust on my wife's 128i Convertible...great sound. Got some other things from Wheel Addicts (Alufelgen 18" CS7), JLevisW, and ECS Tuning.

Find the nearest BMW dealership that is a Dinan Center. You can't go wrong with Dinan mods.

Not all that much - maybe 4-5 hp at high revs. But it definitely increases the fun factor - it sounds great. Several people have commented how my 128 "doesn't sound at all like a 128". Check the private seller sales section and you may be able to find a used one - I got a Dinan free-flow exhaust for my 335 for about half-price from there.

Your best increase (aside from something like the BMS Powerbox) would be a freer-flowing intake (expensive) or a drop-in filter from AFE or K&N (around $50). But don't expect a lot. The N52 engine gets fully broken-in somewhere between 8500 and 10,000 miles and it runs noticeably better after that.

You mean a filter like this?

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=33-2332

Anyone actually dyno with one of these and see a change in HP?

The more pricey intake mod vendors don't seem to offer dyno to substantiate the HP claim, which is one reason why the Powerbox appealed to me: actual data from vendor and users. The irony of course is that the biggest change is simply the trottle response.

Love the thought that the best performance kicks in after 8k miles. Something to look forward to!
I loved the PowerBox while I had it. I ended up trading it for some other aesthetic mods and my performance exhaust. I do miss the quick response as the AT from the 128 does lag a bit when you press the pedal.

I would highly recommend the performance exhaust if you like having a more aggressive sound It would go great with the PowerBox!

I'm in the minority but I actually want a stealth set up (ie, not increase in sound) with as much performance enhancement as is comfortable in a daily driver that has to deal with commuter traffic (hence the auto trans, and only upgrading the front sway bar and not other parts of the suspension that would make the potholes and speedbumps less bearable).

So the exhaust would only appeal to me if there was a HP or responsiveness bump, and I'd rather not get more growl.

(I know, I'm a bit crazy.)
well then the BMW performance exhaust would be great for you. Under 3k it sounds same as stock but when you open her up to 4-7k it sounds better. not necessarily louder, but better.

Having a 125i for almost a year, I must say the best mod i've done is the Performance Exhaust. It takes about 2k miles for the exhaust to break in, but after that the sound just turns heads.

The irony of course is that the biggest change is simply the trottle response -- which when combined with the change in shift points is really how the car should have shipped, in the first place... but of course, is less fuel efficient. I guess they figured that covered the performance side of things with "sport" mode on the AT....

Yes, that's the filter I had in mind - going to get one for the wife's 128i. There is a charcoal filter in the stock intake that is somewhat restrictive and a lot of people delete it - but that might not sit well with your SA or BMW tech. If anyone makes an intake for the 128 that has a heat shield and allows it to take in cooler air, that'd be the ultimate way to go. I had the Dinan intake on a 330i Sport and an AFE intake on a 330i ZHP that was my previous car - both seemed to make a difference, but they were in addition to other modifications.

As for the "stealth" factor for the exhaust - all I can tell you is that the BMW PE is distinctly noticeable as you drive away, and while it does get somewhat loud at higher RPM, it's not what I'd call "stealthy" by any means. The deeper sound is not objectionable, but side-by-side, the PE is a good bit louder than stock.

Here's a link to a good DIY for installing the PE on your car:

On the 128i it is an axle back - just muffler + hangers. I think the 135i PE might have mid pipes as well.
