Thanks for posting the video. Now, I know how it sounds like. I had a 2-3 seconds long crank 6 weeks ago with a sub-zero temperature. Since then, I have not noticed any long crank (like 3-4 sec.), but it does crank longer (like 1-2 sec. now) as compare to new (used to be cranked up < 1.5 sec.).

I have to keep my figer crossed that it won't happen to me; but if it broke, let's wish the latest new pump did fix the problem.

ALL BMWs with N54 Motors had the same problem. mine went out at 9K miles and now at 19K miles its starting to show signs.. same thing happened with me and it took the dealer 6 visits to finally fix it. They said at first that its faulty injectors and changed them and when they did they EFed them even more cuz they didnt connect the injector plugs correctly its soo sad its almost funny..

Good luck

NJ lemon law, problem cant be resolved in 3 tries withing 18k miles.

First pump went at 17.5
next pump went 24.5
3rd one, i hope it breaks before 35k, they will be buying this thing back.

I have a 1er with 18k miles and no HPFP failure. Also E90 with 12k miles and no failure either. I'm assuming it will happen at some point, but so far so good. Both engines start up instantly every time.

I am pretty sure the law means within the FIRST 18k.

PS - good informative video...thanks for sharing. I have yet to have any issues with my pump (5500 miles), but I might proactively buy the 943 pump.

After 6 mths and 6k mile of ownership... my 135i went from long cranks to limp mode and then to nothing in 1 day (yesterday)... never had long cranks before... this was so unexpected... called roadside assist... waited 2 hrs for tow truck in sub-zero temp... towed to the dealer and it's already closed... hopefully they'll hv a look on Monday... and get the 943 new pump...

I wouldn't call the whole car a lemon because of a faulty fuel pump.

STICKY this and you should vote on the video regardless if you had long cranks or not.
Agreed. The only way BWM will fix it (apparently) is if we all get loud and make some noise.

Ridiculous.

Any word yet on the 943 pump failing?

Not even 2 months later, my HPFP is failing again. 2 long cranks and a SES light lit up today.

Speechless.

Mine is starting to show the symptoms too (9.000 meiles). Especially in the morning, after a longer standstill.
BMW pretend there is new software since two weeks who should dissolve the problem. Wait and see ....
