Can we all come to a consensus as to what aftermarket parts will work on a 2011?
There have been snippets of discussion in various threads talking about the new N55 as to what aftermarket mods will work 2011/N55 cars. There are a few I have been told for sure will not work (like FMICs, DCIs and SSKs), but I'd like to get a more definitive list going.
After everyone sheds some more light on this I'll make a new thread that could be turned into a sticky for everyone to use as reference (and as motivation for our favorite vendors out there to get to work on N55 products! ) Feel free to list parts you know for sure WILL fit 2011/N55 1ers as well. |

The Perf Exhaust fits - so a few people have said. Even though it is not listed in the parts film as such. But Dan@United said it works. He should know.
He also said the SSK does NOT work, since the N55 has a slight SSK standard. |

Aside from exhausts, are there any parts made for N54 equipped 135i's that we KNOW will fit a 2011/N55? I know most cosmetic and suspension mods will work, but what about drivetrain mods?

A drop in (cartridge) air filter should be simular. I wonder IF that would work? You could look up the part numbers at a dealer. I also wonder since the N55 only will need ONE cone air filter IF the kit prices will be HALF as much! Somehow I don;t think so! lol What else is there for the N55 that you want? FMIC? METH? The car JUST came out!!! |

I hate to revive a dead thread, but I am really interested in what the OP had in mind, and I would hate to start the exact same thread.
N55 NOLE: did you ever make a new thread and I just missed it in my forum search? I think anyone who comes to this forum with an N55 motor and clicks on a thread with a dyno chart wants to see what is available for them. |

down pipe back exhausts fit but the N55 already has catless mid-pipes so no need for those, suspension fit (springs and coilovers).
HP autowerke has a drop in air filter that there supposed to release soon... |

I think the intake will cost more since its an SCI. and since its so far back theyll need to develop a GTI like arm to bring it to the front. expect to pay $$$$$$ for that

One company has come out with a n55 specific filter, but it's oiled and I'm hesitant to try it out because of the MAF sensor the n55 is equipped with. The link to n55 specific exhaust from Berk looks promising, but I don't want to buy an exhaust before I can hear it in person. Several tuning company have been posting about piggybacks and flashes, but apparently nothing is out as of yet. As others have said, it appears the intake is going to take a complicated and costly solution, but since I live in Florida, that would be one of the last mods I would do, and only then for the cooler months. I've seen people ask about blow off valves and boost re-circulators, but no one has offered a legitimate response. If anyone has anything to add, or knows of any parts I left out, please feel free to add them. Once more parts start to come out I'll definitely be making the list I talked about in the original post. |

How about an oil catch can? Will the kits that were made for the N54 also directly fit on the N55 or will there need to be some modification? From what I've read it did not seem to be a very complicated system on the N54 and was well worth the time/money to keep that oil out of the combustion chamber. This would have been my first engine mod if I had got the N54. It is probably too early to ask, but has anybody taken off their intercooler on an N55 motor to see if there is oil collecting like the N54?

"After we picked the car up we took it to Berk Technology so they could craft us the first exhaust for the N55." I assumed that meant it was different, but they've since posted (and then PM'd me to confirm) that N54 downpipes would fit. It seems I stand corrected. Now to look forward to a downpipe... |
