First time to the dragstrip in my stock 2008 135
I went to Cecil County, MD last friday with my buddy and we ran our cars. I have a 2008 Alpine White on black 135i 6MT. The car is bone stock and had a full tank of gas. Temperatures were around 70-75 Fahrenheit.
I've only had the car for about a month so this was my first time to the track and my very first run ever in the car happened to be my best: 60' - 2.209 330 - 5.851 1/8 - 8.826 MPH - 83.37 1000 - 11.383 1/4 - 13.548 MPH - 104.78 I ran a total of 4 times, two of which I missed second gear. My last run is the only other worth mentioning: 60' - 2.175 330 - 5.872 1/8 - 8.870 MPH - 82.62 1000 - 11.438 1/4 - 13.613 MPH - 103.88 The only thing I can attribute to my going slower in the last run despite having a better 60' is the fact that while I got a better launch, the car started wheel hopping at the end of first/beginning of second. Overall, I was pretty happy with the car and the times...I just have to stop missing second! |

Would love to join you next time you take a trip to the strip. I'm a big drag racing fan but have never done it myself. Just don't want to go at it alone. If anyone else reading this is interested ithen going somewhere not too far, shoot me an invite and I will gladly go. I live in the NOVA area. Thanks
by the way those are decent stock runs, especially the 60 ft times Jorge |

Some stickier tires should help those times. Did you try launching at different RPMs too? Maybe a lower RPM with rolling on the throttle will help the 60' times. Still decent times for a stock car! I havent ran mine at the track yet but I plan on it at least a couple of times.

matacuero - I'll let you know the next time I'm heading down!
CGMike - The first run, where I had a 2.2 60'; I maybe had it at 1,200 RPMS and was very conservative with the launch. It's a fine line, but when I did the last run with a 2.1 60', I was a bit too aggressive and it started wheel hopping on me. With a few more runs and as I get a bit more comfortable I think I'll find the right point to launch. |

Going to the Budds Creek track tonite to run my car for the very first time. Hoping to run some very low 13s...hopefully. If anyone is going, I will be driving an AW 2009 135. Hope to see at least a fellow 1addict there.

Sorry I posted in another thread. U can search my nick for other posts but basically:
3 runs 13:26 12.986 12.980 It was pretty good for my very first time. Don't have anything but Dinan stage 2, did use 265r18 ToyoR1s in the rear. Only had 2.012 60 ft time on my launch. which means I can do a 12.780 if I can cut my 60 ft time down. I plan on getting an intake, IC and possibly stage 3. Looking for a local guy with more experience to help me decide my next mods. |
