BimmerPost Wiki Dictionary - Warning only for those with sense of humor!!!

Warning this is only for those with a sense of humor!!!

Ok, so I have spent the past two years looking for a 1M and was considering E90 M3 also. Also, I look for wheels and other parts for my 330i. I have been doing a lot of looking and feel like all my experience and knowledge will just evaporate so I decided I should start a Bimmerpost wiki dictionary to preserve some of that knowledge. Please feel free to add your additions.

I will get it started:

Tastefully Modified
Modified to the poster's taste, not yours!

Normal Curbage
Marketing term used some to obfuscate the fact that they don't know how to park or care enough to park without damaging the wheels. Not to be confused with "Curb Damage" used by those that know that it's not normal and had a mishap.

Freeway Miles
Drives a lot! Possibly lots of freeway miles towing a tire trailer to countless track sessions up and down the country or used as BMW Uber Taxi.

Loaded
Buyer/Seller decided to order every option in the hopes that their 20K investment would net them an extra $1K at point of sale.

Notes: My favorite key word to automatically move on from that post.

BLoaded
Term coined by NachoB several years ago on Bimmerpost as a play on words between Bloated and Loaded. Same meaning as Loaded : )

Heat Soak
Term used by car fanatics that push production cars like race cars on warm days and are mystified by the normal operation of internal combustion engines when performance is degraded by higher temperatures under heavy and continuous loads.

Mechanic Owned
Car maintained with Oreilly's Parts and Pep Boys parts.

Feeler Post
Synonym: Waste of Time Post
Someone not ready to sell unless you are willing to pay double the original MSRP and they can "feel up" your spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend, before they might really get serious about selling.

All original parts available
Seller is realistic about the mods being only their personal taste and adding little value for the average buyer.

'Moving on to another (faster) car'
'Please also look at my other ad of the engine-ECU re-mapping device that I deliberately want to sell separately.'

Including "winter tire" narrow rims (but without winter tires)
Car did more miles sideways than straight

Excellent!

Slight variation of one of the most overused phrases:

ALL freeway miles
If you believe this, you're an idiot. I don't really live on a freeway onramp...but I may soon if I don't sell this car.

I have now purchased 2 "clean Carfax" cars that were both disasters in their own way. One may have been in a flood or hurricane, but there is no mention on the reports.

Saw this today for an eBay 2002tii. "Currently not rust free". Meaning, yeah you're going to enjoy pouring money into this beast to get rid of all the rot.

I can't find the ad now but I saw a craigslist ad for a totally destroyed 3 series being sold as salvage or parts. The guy had giant bold letter on ad:

CLEAN TITLE / CLEAN CARFAX!

love it!

Daily Driven

I get to redline it at least once per day on my commute.

Regretful sale, all maintenance up to date

I regret not selling before having to stump up for 2k in repairs and maintenance, so now I'm going to try and sting you for it before it costs me even more.

A/C just needs recharge
It needs an expensive repair (if it was a simple recharge I would have recharged it before selling).

Free Multi-Point Inspection

Yeah, sure... we don't even bother to open the hood and check/top off the fluids.

SPOT ON! : our DD bought under Volvo's CPO equivalent ('Volvo Select') supposedly had cleared a 131 point check. Boy, did we feel convinced this car would be in perfect shape. Once on the freeway turns out: aircon does not work! Fixed under warranty, but nevertheless: The more points to be inspected, the more likely there are oversights.

Hate to say it but I think that's probably pretty common. I think a lot of the problems that CPO cars have aren't discovered till after the car is sold and the new owner notices them.

OK, sort of related... I see this listed often:

Test drives
"If you wish to test drive the car, I will ask you to bring a certified check for the full purchase price of the car, your driver's license, and proof of liability insurance. Basically, you should be ready to finalize the sale after the test drive."

I'm sorry, but I would never go to see a car for the first time with a certified check in hand for the full purchase price. What BS. I understand the concern for people who come just to test drive, but seriously? I'd pass on looking at a car if the owner still demanded this of me after talking to him/her on the phone about the car and expressing my interest.

Does anyone here require this when they sell a car, or better yet has anyone complied with these demands when they went to see a car for the first time?

I see a lot of American sayings. What about our European friends. What sort of terms do you see over there that need a 1addicts definition? Please put in original language and translation for us English speakers .

Scotts and Australian friends please also provide translation to English too! : ).
(Just kidding!)
