Any Updates on the Airbag recall? Supposedly 2017?

I checked my status back in December and still no information available.

Has anyone heard anything lately?

My dealer is an hour away and I'd like to schedule some maintenance service but would like to have everything done at once, hopefully.

Asked my dealer when I was in last week they said they're expecting 2017 but no idea on the month.

Last time I checked my dealer said the parts would probably be here in the fall. Nothing so far. Will have to check again.

Last time my car was in for an oil change they looked it up and it had some status I can't recall.

But the SA said I was in the queue but they were prioritizing older cars and those in more humid climates.

I'm not holding my breath.

call BMWNA. That's what I did, and got an airbag less than a month later. For the record, I've had the new airbag since Nov of 2016

I called BMW NA and was told that I was a priority 6 which meant since my car was originally purchased new in PA and not in one of the humid climates, I would be receiving the airbag later in the year (approx for September).

Here's what my service advisor said, "They last said Spring of 2017 for the air bags, but they don’t update us. Parts have still not been manufactured yet… once the parts are available for yours, BMWNA will mail out new letters telling you the parts have been manufactured."

I was in a rental since July, they replaced my airbag in Feb. I think it was prioritized due to the fact I was costing them a lot of $$$$.

I live in MA which is a low priority area. Last September I requested a rental. They gave me a newish Toyota Avalon.
The dealer said that when they get air bag replacement parts in, they prioritize those that have a rental. Sure enough, the dealer wrote to me a month later that they had the part.

I got my original safety recall notification in March 2016 and began calling the dealership every month or so to no avail. Today April 4, 2017 I got a final remedy available letter. So I called the dealership service department. They placed an order for the part(s) to be shipped to them and will contact me in 1-2 weeks to set up an appointment for the repair to be completed. Estimated time for the repair is 2 hours, so they probably will not want to reserve a loaner car for me to use. Maybe I'll just take several test drives in an M2 or an i8 while I'm waiting.

Was just at the dealer yesterday. No airbags in stock, so they did not perform the recall. No idea when they would have parts.

Just got my letter. Florida car, 2008.

Just got my letter yesterday. Called and got appointment set up for week from Monday. Said they had parts. Again, FL car, 2008.

Florida cars are definitely getting stock now, I think we were priority 4. '08 135i.

For what it's worth, calling and asking for a loaner citing "grenade in my face" usually gets them moving quickly, I had mine done before the letter arrived.
