Two sets of wheels setup for TPM at same time?

I'm considering buying another set of OEM wheels and am wondering how the TPM system works. Can I have both sets of wheels "synced" to the car all the time so I can easily switch between them and the TPM system will continue working regardless of which set of wheels is on the car?

tpms

just install on new rims and that is it. They are independent and work off same frequency. Easy

TPMS system does not know wheel location

So, I assume that the BMW TPMS system does not know the location of each TPMS sensor/wheel. Therefore, the BMW OBC does not need to be coded.

I watched a video of a TPMS sensor replacement on a Toyota Corolla. The Corolla OBC needed to be coded for each TPMS sensor and it's location.

Is this the case for BMWs?

Or if you've got a non-US market car, the tire pressure monitoring is done through the ABS/TCS system, and thus (happily!) there are no in-wheel sensors. Woot!

With a US car you need to reset the TPMS when you swap the wheels.

I just swapped to the winter tires and was surprised to see that the TPMS didn't complain about not seeing the sensors. I had to back up to the end of the driveway so they TPMS couldn't see the summer tires sitting in the garage before I could reset it to use the winter tires.
