I gotta say, even the name gets me. Comfort Access. Sounds like a new version of Depends that allows some old cooter to scratch himself...

Thanks!

Well, from the posts I have seen so far it is pretty clear that the Comfort Access is a MUST HAVE. Thanks Everyone, and Yes I will be adding Comfort Access to the option list.

I do think this should be part of the Premium Package, but oh well, $500 more, no biggie I guess.

Thanks!

Yeah, what is it with BMW and names of stuff. Why did the stereo in my e46 have to say "BMW Business" on it, and why is the e90's "BMW Professional". Just rock the joint, don't try to be all stuffy about it.

Having said that, I'll repeat that comfort access is the way to go even though I'm no old cooter (though I do occasionally scratch myself).

In the manual it's actually officially called "Convenience Access". BMW changed it, but everyone had already gotten use to the term "Comfort Access."

What is the Deutsche label for CA? Is it victim to linguistic/culture cross-wiring? I can see M-B pampering their doddering customers with milktoast monikers, but BMW? You have to wonder what the M version would be like... maybe it would sense the need for increased shock damping, a little nitrous?

Like navigation, it's now on my must have list for future cars.

completely worth it, definitely the best "cool feature". very convenient for a woman because she doesn't have to dig through her purse.

An ignorant Q: what happens when you and your significant other, both of whom have their respective CA programmed keys in their pockets, get in the car together? Do the seats and heating controls do some sort of schizophrenic dance, trying to decide who is dominant?

Because you don´t have it.
If you had it you´d swear by it.
Once you have CA you can never go back. It´s like power door locks or electric windows. Once you´re used to them, you just cannot imagine not having it.

No. The car recognises who get´s in at the driver side and sets the driver seat and all other options to the driver side fob.

Aarrghh, now you've got me twitching, begun leafing through my collection of brochures & order forms to see about adding it!

Just one question: how far away do you have to walk from the car before the doors lock, and how can you be sure they have locked? Do the turn indicators flash, or something?

The doors don´t unlock if you just walk away. To unlock you just grab the handle. To lock you touch the handle shortly after you´ve closed the door. You´ll hear the doors locking simply because you´re lose and the doorlock motors are noisy plus the indicators flash.

Bastards, now even I am convinced. My other vehicle is a Honda Odyssey, and the convenience of the power sliding doors is fabulous. Kids in and out, no issues with smashed fingers... If CA is as big an improvement as that, I am sold. Just wish it were standard.

Now I wonder how it solves the problem of what happens when you are both in the driver's seat, then passenger's seat, then back seat...

Yes, CA is a must have. It might seem superfluous looking at it from the outside perspective, but you'll appreciate it fully once you've got it and are using it daily.

Personally, I think all women should get this option. It is a got to have it option for women. The only woman I have ever seen dig her car key out of her purse in a timely manner is my mother. My former wife on the other hand...

I only carry one key, the car key. So it is not an issue for me to reach down in my pocket, pull the key out, push a button to unlock the drivers door, insert the fob, and push another button to start the vehicle.

On conceptual grounds, I also think it makes absolutely no sense to have a start/stop button that doesn't actually start the car when you push it. If I have to insert a key, er, fob before pushing the start button, then I would rather have a key to twist. So CA makes sense in conjunction with the start/stop button, in that it lets you start the car in one step, the way such a button should work.
