That car was originally posted at very strong money and has now been advertised for about a month. I think you will see it come down in small increments until the right buyer comes along.

Well it's no longer advertised on the BMW AUC car site, and it's marked as sold on PH.

I've been checking Autotrader and as the summer temperature has risen, so have the prices... The classic car market has gone crazy with speculators buying anything they think will go up in value in the next few years. I think the 1M may well be one of a select bunch of relatively affordable modern cars that may been seen as having good investment potential. Whether it will only apply to mint examples is yet to be seen. The low numbers produced will help. Its direct competitor at the time was the RS3. Though not as universally acclaimed it was also produced in low numbers at a similar price and their values were very similar on the used market for a while. Now, most of the RS3s are below 30k, going as low as £25k for higher mileage examples. I was told by the salesman at the time I bought my 1M (2.5 years ago) that the value would probably fall to 25K by now, and then would gradually increase over time. I've never seem a 1M under 30k. None of this really matters to me as it's a keeper but it will be the first car I've ever bought that has gone up in value. Be very interested to see what happens in the future with the 2 series M Coupe. My feeling is that it won't make much of a dent in the values as the 1M is so weird/amazing looking and unique and produced in such low numbers. Which is all the boxes ticked for future classic status!

There's a new AW appeared on the BMW AUC site today, no details yet but very low 5.5K miles and strong money £49k+ again.
Of interest to UK owners - try entering your car details in using BMW's 'we want your car' quote site and prepare to be shocked at trade in value. Last edited by RS375; 06-16-2015 at 02:09 AM.. |

I haven't even looked Aussie, but a friend of mine has recently bought one and he experimented with it soon after purchase and got a bit of a shock.
There's an exciting year unfolding in the UK for the hot hatch/coupe market but I'm happy where I am - I still love the 1M. |

I had a CSL a few years ago too, ran it for 3 years and 16k miles. Loved it. But also loved the 3 years with the 1M. Not anything in it performance wise I don't think. 1M is quicker 'on the roll' just down to torque.
I am not a fan of the new M3/M4. I am skipping anything BMW offer for the next year or two I think. |

My Valencia Orange car is very high spec and is currently wearing not much more than 14,000m. It has another year of Service Inclusive, another year of comprehensive warranty, and will soon have another year of connected services. I'm seeing ASKING prices of similar vehicles at around the £45,000 mark.
Unfortunately mine now has three or four white stone chips on the bonnet (hood, for our American buddies). Would it be prudent to get the front end repainted when I feel the need, or would this devalue it? I'm after opinions on that question. Cheers! |

I guess it depends on HOW bad those chips are. Maybe just get a good detailer to touch and polish in... Won't be perfect and but be better and more genuine than a respray. These are now used cars so buyers should expect some marks from use.

Good call. I do have some genuine touch-up paint. It can't hurt to try it. I'm kind of thinking a few years down the line, though. Unfortunately it seems that VO is a colour which highlights chips. Probably black as well. Lucky Apline White owners!
