Recalled!
Hey everyone, this sucks!
I am enjoying my car and loving life, then the ARMY decided to come along and fuck it all up! I was active duty infantry for 3 years, 2002-2005. Spent 03-04 in Iraq and now I have been recalled to active duty to ship out of Seattle, WA for Iraq again. I am ! Military pay will barely pay my payments, this is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! ....I am so mad, sorry, just needed to vent! |

If it is a lease then you may be able to return it early because of the military recall. If not, then just think about the positive side that you will have a low mileage car when you return. Sorry you have to go back. I just got back a month ago myself.

What rank are you coming back in at? The deployment pays aren't too bad, and the Servicemen and Sailors Act (I think thats what its called) should help you if you trouble making ends meet.
BTW, sorry to hear they called you back up. Stay safe when you get here.

I may try to keep the car while I am overseas, at least I don't have to worry about going over on miles in my lease. But it's a year out of my lease that I won't be able to drive her. |

If you leased it you can get out of your contract with deployment orders, then you can buy one for cheap through the military sales program.
I don't remember the name of the Act that gives you the right to get out of the lease without penalty, but it is the same one that allows you to get out of any housing lease. The MSP is great because you will get a brand new car at about a 4k discount.

So the Soldier and Sailor Relief Act helps on this?? HMM...crappy to turn it back in, but at least I won't have to worry about the payment being made every month. |

I am not sure if that is it or not, but it is the one that lets you get out of contracts. My dealer told me about it, you can read about it on military.com.
It could work out great for you, you might be able to buy for nearly the same payment as your lease was.

Be safe...
Sorry to hear bro. I've been there and I'm pretty sure that you can get out of the lease with a copy of your orders as another army buddy of mine did before we deployed in 04. Stay safe and we're proud of you.

Shocker,
You can get out of the lease. I had two friends that did just that when we deployed last year. Here's a link about the Soldiers & Sailors Civil Relief Act (SSCRA). I'm sure there are many other links out there. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/sscra/l/blsscra.htm Military Sales saved me $3850 off MSRP and I didn't have to pay sales tax when it came to the states (another $3850-ish). Something to think about.
