What Happens If I Don't Take Car to Dealer for First Service?
So my first scheduled service is imminent and I'm thinking of skipping it and just doing the oil change myself, as I have a downpipe on the car and don't really want to take it off and reinstall it just for the oil service. Is that going to screw with my warranty? What if I take it to an independent shop and keep the receipt to prove it was done?

There is no requirement to have your car serviced at the dealer.

+1. Keep all receipts and make sure you do what BMW says you should do/change/replace. I did my own second service myself too - since it was only basically an oil change, pollen filter and brake fluid flush. Make sure you use teh correct oil too (BMW LL-1 approved). |
