Fairly new to the board. I picked up a really clean 2011 135i Sport w/ DCT. I figured I'd post up an intro now that I'm an owner!

It's optioned pretty much exactly how I would have order it from the factory except for the stereo is Hi-Fi & I'd have gone for the Harmon Kardon sound system.

2011 e82 135i n55
Space gray metallic - A52
Leather seats Alaska Grey
DCT trans. w/ paddle shifters
ZSP Sport Pkg: Sport seats, M-sport suspension, M-sport steering wheel, & Shadowline trim,
Adaptive Xenon headlights,
Hi-Fi Stereo w/
BT, USB Combox interface

Gotta post some pics right!

"Alaska Grey" is what the vin decoder says.

Clean is almost an understatement. 40k mi. and it barely looks driven. Seems a California-girl owned it and it's barely got a mark on anything inside. The outside is in great shape too.

I'm planning some upgrades, but staying w/ BMW where it makes good sense.

Maybe:
Blackline tail lights,
Whiteline bushing inserts and
M3 control arms

The steering and handling feels like new so I'm good for now. I was surprised how well it drives. At 40k I was thinking I might have to replace the shocks & other bits ASAP but they feel really good so not sure if it was done already. I'll check when I do my first oil change in a couple weeks.

Comparing Sport vs. M-sport on 2011 135i.

Sport ZSP:
2SM Alloy wheels 5-spoke star, style 264/MB
481 Sport seats
710 M-sport steering wheel
760 Shadowline trim
840 Increased top speed limiter

M-Sport ZMP adds:
Same as above ZSP Kit plus:
+ 2MR 18" double spoke wheels #261M (same sizes F&R just different style)
+ 337 Cosmetic Pkg. = /M door sills, /M shifter & hand brake
+ 775 Anthracite headliner (black)

Black Headliner
The black headliner isn't a big deal to me. I actually prefer the light grey matching color w/ the grey two tone interior.

Shifter and Brake Handle
I have DCT so no /M shifter far as I can tell.
Brake handle is perforated leather. whats an M brake handle look like?

Had the PPK1 installed today. Really quite impressed with it. I wasn't expecting such an improvement over stock based on what I read in a few threads but it's a whole different car. Definitely feels stronger off the mark. Throttle is more linear and responsive, picks up from the bottom harder and accelerates better. All and all quite pleased with it.

So its a step toward 135is conversion. Only other difference seems to be a stronger 850w fan + BMWPS & BMWPE. Hmmm. Now I'm thinking about adding the Whiteline bushing inserts sooner rather than later until I do a full suspension swap down the road. I wonder if I can retrofit a stronger fan from the 135is or 1M

They make this shifter but it's not clear if it is compatible with the DCT http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/25...SELECTOR-LEVER

Also the 135is comes with 19" style 313 wheels. The 261, 264, and 313 style wheels are all wider in the rear by an inch.

It's a totally different assembly. One is an electronic joystick and one is an old-school lever.

135is 313 M wheels are 18".

Have you had the PPK installed at the dealer or a coder? Noticed any difference in loudness?

I guess it's started down the road to being "is'd" as in a 135is conversion now. Only other difference seems to be the BMWPE. Hmmm. I'm thinking about adding the Whiteline bushing inserts sooner rather than later.
is also comes with the PPK2.

I've haven't seen a 135i M-sport with the "/M" DCT lever. I've seen pics but not sure what model they come on. I don't feel a need to splash /M all over.

I like the 313 & 269 PWs but if I change rims I'd want to save weight and these are about the same as the 264s which have and like actually.

There is a noticeable difference in sound and response. Pops and burbles as they say. It also seems a bit deeper tone/more rasp w/ the exhaust valve open more. I don't know all that it changes but the shifts seem to pop or snap more on up-shifts. I know it also reset the transmission adaptations so that may part of it but the throttle response is noticeably more linear right now. I no longer have to anticipate the slow-roll lag. Now its more that I need to anticipate the roll-on boost b/c it comes on earlier. We'll see if it stays through 200 to 400 miles of adaptation to my driving. All and all with it.

What is in the PPK2 that is not currently on an '11 135i Sport model? I though it already has the added cooler so would it be just a stronger radiator fan?

Yep, just saw that... "contains the same engine performance software as Version 1, plus an Auxiliary Water Cooler and an Enhanced Radiator Fan to reduce the higher thermal stresses on the engine during extreme driving" I'll see how it handles the Vegas summer heat. I plan to add an aux. fan before I take it to a trackday.

Had the oil changed today so I figured I'd have the spark plugs changed out b/c w/ the PPK BMW says its 45k spark plug changes.

While it was getting work I had the Whiteline RSFB inserts done. The instructions looked so simple I thought about doing it myself but since my Indy only charged me 3 hrs total for all the work I figured I'd let them do it.

I didn't really get enough driving time back to the office to test it in traffic. Thus far it feels tighter and more control. Hoping to have a bit more open road after work or on the way in tomorrow.

Definitely grab a BMS catch can, especially if you're a spirited driver. It's a stupid easy install too. I'm at 73k and some of my valves are pretty bad, I installed the catch can around 70k and I can tell the crud on the valves look dry, leading me to believe the catch can has at least slowed the process. I will probably always say it's still a good idea to get a walnut blast around 80-100k tho.

Oh and welcome! Space grey DCT here too!

Interesting... You're the first person w/ an n55 I've heard of w/ dirty valves/needing a walnut blast. Curious, do you do lots of short trips or run it harder? What's your oil change interval? Climate?

Had a chance for a bit more driving this AM on the way in. Back end definitely is more planted w/ the RSFB inserts. There isn't really much increase in NVH but I can definitely feel the back end over bumps a bit more. Less loose side-to-side wiggle in corner exit & more controlled.

I had to do something about the fried egg looking side marker lights. So I ordered a set of the TYC Side Marker Lights from bavauto. Fit just like OEM Part#s are 18-0399-00-1 &18-0400-00-1

Their site doesn't have the right photo of one of them. One cool thing about them is the lights look silver from the side looking straight on but they blink amber.

A couple of before & after/comparison shots. For under $30 & five min. Of my time I'm pretty happy with them. Hey they blink! (yes I know I need to wash my car... rained thursday. LOL)

^^ My side blinks were the same yellowish shade as yours, I took some 1500 compound to them and rubbed hard with a microfiber and they look brand new. Same goes for the headlights. Though I do like the look of the amber!

Actually, that was how mine looked after they were cleaned up. They just yellow over time. Yuck!
