Two Questions for COBB:

Is a 5" upgraded intercooler "good enough" for the E30/100 Octane maps?

Also, Would running a y-pipe at the downpipes into a single 3" exhaust all the way back be considered an upgrade over the stock exhaust when restrictiveness is considered?

Thanks.

I would consider both of those mods adequate, but the E30/Race maps are pretty aggressive, so we always recommend logging. If you have any questions on logs, send them over and I'll make sure you're looking good.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but if I have a 2010 N54 135I wouldn't they be able to detect that I loaded a diferent tune, even if I return it back to stock?

I though the MSD81 could detect a tune?

Thanks

Unless the dealer rips the ECU out of the car and mails it to headquarters, in short, no.

Buy the COBB, insert smile on face, improve quality of life.

There is a lot of debate on this but IIRC, actual senior BMW techs have stated that without significant effort on BMWs part, it's not easy to tell assuming you flash back to stock map. If you go in with a non-stock map, yes they can look directly at your tables and be able to compare to a stock map.

Question to COBB. If i track the car, will engine overheating be reduced with catless downpipe and satge2 vs the stock DP with stage1+FMIC?

Here's a log I took last night, Stg2+ aggressive, let me know what ya'll think. I'm not wild on the modest timing pull around peak boost, and cyl 2 is noisier than i'd like...but generally speaking the car feels strong. Any comments are appreciated

Edit: just to be clear, when you click on the google doc download it so you can see all the values. Sorry for the confusion.

N55 ECU flash just installed - first impressions

just installed N55 ECU flash on my 2012 - 3 day first impressions runing stage 1 sport on 91 gas

- egine feels smoother at revs, revs easier - likely due to new engine timing
- exhaust sounds much better now on my Berk sport exhaust which is probably due to new engine timing. The previous exhaust note on my Berk was throatier and louder (like an american V8) - with the tune, it sounds deeper yet less loud, like a european V8 It sounds like a high revving V8 now in mid to high RPM. - similar to an E39 M5. love reving it just to listen to the sound.
- no boost lag at all
- power is good ( I am told ~+25HP, +35ft/lb at wheels on sport map - though I am told I will get more with downpipes and intercooler -

overall, very happy with tune so far, the exahust note alone is worth it and canceling my Sirius radio subscription love the fact that I can flash back to stok without a wrench in 15 minutes. Until Cobb come out with maps for increased throttle respoonse, I am using Pedalbox. I'll keep you posted on more impressions.

Call Cobb and give them your VIN number. It does work on earlier 2012 135's with the certain ECU version.

Like you said there's a little bit of timing pull from about 3500 RPM to about 3900 RPM, but it doesn't show up later as your timing climbs which is a good thing. When was the last time the plugs were changed? It's either that injectors or carbon build up.

Plugs were done in the last 10K so they should be fine, injectors could be on the way out but I kind of doubt it, the car is running quite strong and it hasn't misfired or had a real hiccup in months (knock on wood). The sleight crankyness could well be the intake manifold being crapped up, my car just cleared 43K and I'm planning on taking care of that at 45K along with a tranny flush. IMO the log is pretty clean, I was just curious as to the small timing pull...But all in all i'm pretty happy with how things are looking. Thanks for the comments, it's extremely helpful to get the communities' feedback.

Okay I'm hoping someone can answer what I hope is a simple question. I recently picked up a previously used accessport from another 1addicts member. Reading through the User Guide, I noticed a warning on page 10 that says if a previous installation is detected, you will be given the option to overwrite it with a new installation. It also states that in case of a previous install, a stock ECU program supplied on the accessport will be used when you uninstall. My question is... If the accessport is unmarried, and I perform the install, will it save my current flash (i.e. the BMW PPK) or will it revert to some other stock ECU program when I uninstall (i.e. either the previous owner's flash or one supplied by Cobb)?

You will loose your PPK I think.

Yes, the PPK tune will be overwritten and when you unmarry the COBB, it will load the stock tune. I had an ESS tune when I bought my car and emailed COBB customer support with the same question before loading their AP on my vehicle.

Hi quick question, I have a stock 2009 135i and I'm now ready to start modifying it a bit. If I purchase the AccessPORT for the car in its current stock condition, what modifications do you suggest doing first to enhance it as I go along? Thank you!

Upgraded intercooler and intake. The OEM IC is absolute garbage. The intake is there just to help reduce the workload of the turbos. Anything you can do to keep WGDC down while hitting the same load targets is a good thing.

Just want to provide a brief update in case someone on the forum has the same question. I contacted Cobb and was told that BMW's PPK would not be viewed as a "previous install" and will be saved on the accessport for use when uninstalling the Cobb. That being said, the accessport did not recognize my ROM so I sent my ECU download to Cobb. Once Cobb's firmware is updated and I am able to install/uninstall the Cobb, I will confirm that you retain the PPK when removing the Cobb flash.

Sounds like no one has tried the Cobb flash with a PPK yet. You're the first. Good find man!
