Vert window creaking.

Guess maybe I should expect this with the vert, but does anyone else notice a creaking sound while driving, where the vert top contacts the top of the window?

Seems to worsen with cold weather, and gets better when the car heats up a bit. Also more noticable on rough roads. Also anything I might be able to apply to the rubber gasket to reduce the noise?

As said, thinking maybe this is a creak that it
indigenous with vert ownership?!

Thanks for the input.

It's been very cold up here in Vancouver (constantly below freezing) and I haven't noticed any window creaking at all. I would definitely take it in and have them look at it.

No gasket problems on my 128i vert - I strongly recommend using Gummi Pflege every 6 months or so.

Garage List
I treat my rubber seals with silicon lubricant every once in a while. It helps with squeaking/creaking.

Silicone can break down the rubber on the seals. Its best to use a product that doesn't contain silicone - and there aren't that many out there.

BMW discontinued gummifledge a few years ago as apparently it did contain some silicone.

They have a new product sold under part number 83 23 0 309 627 called carbaflo. It is a teflon based lubricant that costs approx $60 for a small bottle.

There is also another product that can be used called Krytox that is sold by the different car manufacturers. GM has it for the best price but I recently had a tough time finding it here in Alberta. Just ordered a bottle from a saturn dealership in edmonton. Hoping that it will cure my window creak on the passenger side.

Here are some threads I saved from other boards with further info on this if you are interested.

I haven't driven my 1'er in almost a month but my seal was creaking off and on for the entire month of November.
