Bye Bye Run Flats!

Another convert to Michelin PSS's! Wow..feels like I'm driving a new car. The first reaction is the ride is much smoother. Gotta give the tires a little time to get broken in, but so far I'm thrilled with the handling. I read some negative posts about sidewall flex compared to the fun flats, but it's not been an issue for me. I drive "spirited" but I'm not tracking it...

To be fair, the old tires had 19k on them before I ditched them. The last month they were howling....had to keep the tunes up to drown them out. I actually thought they were fine for the first 10k miles or so. But the idea of spending 50% more for new run flats was not something I could seriously consider. I added the BMW mobility kit and a spare tire and feel great about it. The Michelin warranty provides for free flat changing service and towing for up to 150 miles for 3 years. I doubt I will get more than 3 years out of a high performance summer tire...

How / where did you have room for the spare tire??

Do you just keep it sitting in your trunk, or is there a place for one?

I am looking forward to my run-flats wearing out so I can go PSS. I just refuse to blow ~$1000 right this second to replace 90% new fronts (BMW dealer I purchased from put them on) and 50-70% rears.

It's in the trunk, steel wheel with a 125/80/17 tire, from Bavarian Auto

Same story here. Hate the run flats but can't afford to throw away good rubber. I only put about 3K miles on my car a year so they'll be with me for a while yet.

I have the MPSS but have to admit that the OEM run flats with the M3 subframe bushing conversion feels just as good, if not better then just the MPSS alone.

I was going to sell my 9,000 mile old run flats but now plan to keep them and put them back on the car once the MPSS's are done.

I had the exact situation and mate the swap - old RFT's sat on Craigslist for about 1 month and finally got a GoPro Hero3 black as a trade (no cash) lol. Oh well.

Tires are awesome though.

Also - why get a spare tire? Get the slime - $20 and works great from what I hear (I have it and hope it works great if I ever need it)

Same here. I only have 7k on the runflats/car so far and I can't wait for them to get worn out. I just can't justify replacing them before they are done. There's plenty of time to buy tires in life

Because I "hear" that and other temp fixes reportedly work.... while I'm quite certain that my spare "will" work.... Much longer history of successful spare tire usage compared to other approaches...Peace of mind...priceless
