Official APEX 8 Group Buy Photos!

Folks,

I want to start a photo thread that showcases folks that participated in the APEX ARC 8 Group Buy with the new ET 45 wheel.

I just got Michelin Pilot Sport 2 will the following fitment on the vert:

235 40 R18 (Extra Load) in the front

265 35 R18 in the back.

Nice and day difference from the Run CRAPS! Now I can really enjoy the JOY BMW advertises on its commercials. I can not believe I put up with the Run CRAPS for over 6000 miles. Pure torture compared to how the car drive and handles

great color choice. that's what i got for my black 1er, but they will be going on my white one in a few days now that my new car is here and spring is here.

enjoy folks, and enjoy the easier time getting away from stop lights and stuff because of less rolling resistance from ligter weight (clutch feels a million times better with less weight to spin.)

There is an official gallery where we ask for members to post their specific fitment details here:

I know why BMW put light weight forged M-spoke wheels on my last e38 740i. It gives the car a light on its feet feel and the feeling that my butt is riding on glass.

On turns, the grip is fantastic! I don't use the brakes as much now since the grip and confidence is there.

Road noise is minimized. The Michelins are dead quiet.

Nothing Like Anthracite to Hide. . .

More comments welcomed when you are ready.

Rear should be XL rated also.
Brake Dust. The number one and only reason to get anthracite. I can't get over people who complain about brake dust and then get silver or hypersilver wheels.

I tried to get the XL for the rear but they were out so I put on the N3s. It was like $100 more. I know, I know, I shouldn't put Porsche tires on a BMW, but it was more available tire to my favorite tire shop.

And know one can tell me what is fundementally different about the N3 vs. the XL. Do you know?

It's much higher than the stock runflats with are like 89Y.

True, but SoCal has an overcrowded Porsche community.

Seems like the first thing people do is ditch whatever car they had elsewhere and buy a Porsche.

My favorite tire place says they keep many N3s in stock because so many people with Porsches burn through them all the time.

Supply and demand at work with the Michelins.

Whoa! Now I have a new problem!?!?!?

The Michelins run so smooth and queit, I am now beginning to hear all the squeaks and rattles in the vert!

Tells you how noisy the runcraps were. . .

Damn, now I need some lube to grease up whatever rattling and squeeking. Oh well, this a nice unavoidable side effect of having great tires.

Another Benefit I Just Realized! No Yellow

Traction Control Light when I want to take a corner fast from a stand still! Grip, grip, and more grip!

I recall when I had my runflats, the yellow light would always come on and blink at little bit when I take a corner hard from a stand still.

the run flats liked to bounce around, so when you hit a bump and accelerate, the light would be non stop.

definitely better grip with wider non run flat tires....

Enjoy, now just imagine what a limited slip would do for you!!!

No rubbing with 265 at rear and 235 at front? Any fender roll?

No fender roll - stock suspension. No rubbing. It's a tight fit, and close to the strut tube but it does not rub.

interesting to see how close it is to the tube.

I have 245s on the front and i get a little rub on big bumps with stock suspension, so a 235 must just be enough to get away with it.

I will be lowered with camber some time, but that's just what i notice now.

my 265s on the rear never rubbed, and i think once they are worn out, i'll jump to a 275 just to fill the wheel a little better.

I dunno - but it doesn't. The picture is a little deceiving because the wheel is turned. I don't know the exact clearance but i can fit the tip of my pinky between the tire the strut tube. And it helps that PS2s don't run wide.
