granted FI would be an interesting choice for the 128i, Im confident the block and compression isn't ready to handle any form of FI (however I could be wrong). Most people on this side of the forum would probably flame and start aiming towards the DISA manifold/Header/Tune route

Z4 kits are only for m54 and s54. Only ARMA offers a n52 kit and the one guy who installed ended up wrecking his motor and ARMA said SOL to the guy.

FI is a terrible idea for the N52. It simply isn't designed for that kind of heat.

however, the real answer: cheaper to swap in an N54, let alone find a cheap 135i... heck, you could swap an S65 for the same money. |

that being said the motor would of been fine, if it wasn't for a crappy sc design spitting fragments into the head of the motor. i believe there is still hope. if you read the thread they said the engine was running just fine. one guy actually removed the kit because he didn't want his to fail and cause damage to the engine. not because it couldn't handle it but because the kit was made from cheap metal.

I always thought once my car is a track rat, and the motor gives out, i might toss in an sr20 or an rb25. That'd be a fun track car imho.

Ditto on the non BMW engine swap. Either a new ford v8 or a 1jz bottom / 2zj head with a full standalone. 500hp or bust.
but that's a long way away... |

So none of you want AC and the like? Why not just buy an E36 shell for such things? Significantly cheaper starting point.

Non BMW engine/ecu means...
Not street legal in most states loss of DSC likely loss of ABS almost certainly loss of climate control/AC Why start with a compromised luxury car platform, again? Compromise everything you gain from the chassis and end up with no benefits over something simpler/purer. Better to get a car designed around an engine, be happy with the engine you have, or (if you must engine swap) use a BMW engine to keep it legal/systems beyond the engine functioning. People love to talk about how great LSX/2JZ/____ swaps are, but the reality is that they ruin the car for anything other than race use, 99% of the time.
