hahahahaha u are right!!!
it is 2am nearly and i am still geeked... limited by this crazy european keyboard with though... and of course no wifi... currently in a hotel lobby... first off... the ED process was wonderful... great hospitality at the welt.. got my docs all signed and then went down to see my car... unfortunately it was obstructed so i couldn't see the elevator bring it up.... i also didn't immediately realize that there are six places to wait for your car.. three A and three B locations not in the actual reception area..... at any rate.. the car is beautiful... i took two victory laps.... using the first to stop and chat with the other 1M owners on the platform... they turned out to be active CCA members in the Detroit are.... picking up their alpineweiss 1M..... and then headed out down the exit into the...... light.... RAIN! doh! so much for keeping my 1M clean! i don't have many photos.. and no real way to upload them at the moment.. but i am sure Dackel has a few he can upload... he very graciously served as official photographer... which left me plenty of time to drool over my baby...! After spending some time walking around the welt post delivery... we made our way to the M studios where Tyler, a US employee on a 6 month internship showed us the M studio.. Several individual vehicles... a beautiful MOONSTONE white e92 m3, a hydrogen 7... a 2002 carl lagerfeld extended 740 with a three tone fade... a new 5 series touring... along with a black 1m.... and M3 GTS. it was way cool to see the GTS in person! I was hoping that other engineers would be around to ask questions... but unfortunately... not the case. with the rain... and the fact that my daughter's bag was delayed and didnt reach the hotel til 11pm with her clothes the night before; my wife and daughter had not seen any of Munich other than the Welt. i decided to scrap my plans to travel today... and instead spent the day with Dackel. we went to Dackau concentration camp.. had dinner at a very good chinese restaurant.... global wok.. then drove back into munich and parked at the welt again and caught the subway across town where we all went and walked around Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz... all told i have about 50 miles on the car.. tomorrow we will head for NEUSCHWANTZ (sp) castle and on to innsbruck.. with stelvio pass tomorrow or Saturday... david.. i hope you had a safe drive home... looking forward to seeing some of the photos! oh... a few quick impressions...
the car... OMG it is so fast.. a few times i got into the throttle nicely.. but 4K came right as the car really got moving... and of course i had to short shift.. DOH! The ride is actually BETTER than i had remembered from my time during the pre-drive... Firm.. but never jarring.. it really soaks up bumps .... mostly city driving though... so i willl get more time with it on some more curvy roads tomorrow... |

Might be worth pointing out that if you use this in conjunction with a SIP app on your phone you can have totally unlimited free calling wherever you go 24/7. Assuming the wifi provides solid service. |

Did you get it? I did not finalize the transaction before I left and thought I would save on shipping and pick it up in Heathrow.... bad Idea... Huge airport and I ended up in the wrong terminal... and never found them.. Worst decision I made on my ED delivery...

I just PM'd M3 Adjuster all my photos. I think the honor belongs to him to put together which ED shots he wants to show us. I will say his daughter said Mark had that same silly (BIG) grin in his face as he did last year once he found out he won the 1M "lucky twelve" contest to come test the prototype 1M's.

You need it.. For sure. I blew it trying to save $25 bucks to get it at Heathrow... From there, My problem is that I had a loose itinerary and booked hotels based on where we were... I didn't plan the entire trip out in advance... which helped us to be flexible enough to enjoy the full day with Dackel on Thursday. |

I read that on the way home! Well I won't feel so bad about touching 4500-5000 in a few spots.. I think slightly exceeded the max rpm by about 5-10 mph though! The 4K amount came from my delivery agent... perhaps I miss heard... but he recommended running it in steps... 4K, 5K, then 5500. Dunno.. maybe he saw me grinning and gave me a time out... I'm much a proponent of the run it in like you plan to use it method... but with it being house money (mine!) on the line and a few extra censors riding along...I still had a good time. If I can get it here for Ofest... I would love to drive it to Barber for it's first event! Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 09-07-2011 at 05:16 PM.. |

Mark congrats on the 1M. Glad you enjoyed the Welt experience. I am also here in Germany like Dave and I have a Welt Delivery for 2012 M3 Coupe planned for late October early November. Won't get all the perks of an ED i.e. chance for a driving tour; however, since Uncle Sam sent me over here for three years I guess I can make up for it.
