Cool carbon brake pad color - after heating up?

Just wondering if this color is normal for the cool carbons after a few hard laps, hard breaking?

Edit: correct picture link

It's called pad transfer layer. As long as you got an even layer you're good. You're supposed to get that for maximum braking ability

I've always heard that when it turns white and powdery it means that you're over heating the pad material's working limits

Rotor has a nice color showing good material transfer; the edges of the pads appear to show discoloration from paint burn off.

Cool Carbon pads are good to temperatures of 600C+; With the enclosed design of the 135i brake calipers it is a good idea to consider the addition of cooling ducts; the stainless steel noise shims block heat transfer roughly 3x better than steel shims; Titanium is better with a 5x blocking of heat transfer.

They were probably around there during hot runs, when I got into the pits they had gone down to about 750F. Titanium Shims and slotted EBC rotors are in the pipeline as well.

Are there any brake ducts for the 135? Other than the built in one's that is?

You start tracking your car, and so many things to do.. lol but fun!

For cooling ducts check the forums for what others have fabricated;
unfortunately there is currently no kit offered.
