:Help: GIVEN INCORRECT ALLOCATION INFO – TO CLOSE THE DEAL :ur help:
Guys,
Please read the series of events and post your thoughts… I can really use some good advice right about now.
Had I known this upfront I could have gone to 4 other dealers in the surrounding area. Options: 1. I could calmly discuss this with the General Manager and see what can be done 2. Request that they reduce the price a little for the extra month’s inconvenience 3. Put it in their court and see what they’ll do - i.e.: get an extra bell, and/or whistle 4. Write a very strong letter to the general manager and his boss - cc: BMW 5. Bite the bullet and wait the extra month Any suggestions or advice on how to handle this situation before contacting the CA/GM would be appreciated. Thanks.

Princeton, NJ??? You definitely have other dealers in the area. See if you can get a configurable production slot (probably very unlikely). If you cannot find a slot.. see if they have a July build slot available and will meet (or beat) your deal with the current dealer. Then make up your mind.
If you do stick with the dealership, tell them now that you're miffed at them blatantly lying to you, just to get you to sign, and you expect some compensation. Writing letters is likely just going to be an exercise in futility, IMO. |

i agree with larryn... let them know that you're unhappy that they lied to you by voicing your anger in person. paper isn't likely to do as much for you as going in and speaking with the person who lied to you in the first place. if the guy won't budge, take it to the manager.
basically, they have you because you gave a deposit. should make them put it in writing next time |

I have a copy of the e-mail that was sent the following day which listed the production number and ETA of 6-8 weeks from the CA.
My concern is the 1000.00 deposit, although production is still 3 weeks away, i feel any reputable dealership should make 'good' on this situation. - ? -

If they won't give you anything, let them know that they can't pull that kind of stuff and demand your deposit back and go to another dealer. You may have to wait a couple extra weeks, but I'd rather go with a dealer I trusted to be straight and fair with me, particularly if I planned on going back there for maintenance. |

Where do you purchase your 1?
P'ton BMW (now under new ownership as of last Oct) was hard nosed about taking care of me so I took my business elsewhere. They would only take 500.00 off invoice. (And I bought 2 cars from them in the past). So I drove down to South Jersey. They claimed to take 1,060.00 off MSRP My deal and notes below: SPECS: 128i Coupe 3.0-liter, inline 6-cylinder engine 6 SPEED MANUAL Rear-wheel drive See all standard features Invoice: MSRP Base MSRP 26,310 $28,600 · Black Sapphire Metallic 480 $550 · Black Leatherette $0 · High Gloss Black Trim $0 · Cold Weather Package 685 $750 · Sport Package 1,090 $1,300 · Navigation system 1,910 $2,100 · iPod and USB adapter 365 $400 · BMW Assist 685 $750 · Park Distance Control (rear only) 320 $350 · Xenon headlights 730 $800 Destination & Handling: 825 $825 Total MSRP as Built 36,425 - $33,400 Invoice $36,425 DEAL: – Black Carpeted Floor Mats - No Charge Per Sales Manager Black Rubber Floor Mats - (68.00 Off List Price) - Credit Per Sales Manager (from sent email 6/17 to CA): (Total cost w/ options, taxes, misc $38,134.75) as discussed with the general sale manager. Good Deal ? Quote:

Absolutely talk to the Sales Manager, again and give him the info you have gotten. If he makes nothing of it, talk to the GM. If the GM even cares about his customer satisfaction scores, he'll work something with you. If not, take your deposit and walk to the next dealership.
Also, telling BMW about it won't do anything as they are not involved with how dealerships are run and managed. They can only advise the dealership to fix the problem, not force them to

One,
Same story here. Instead of 6-8 weeks, exactly 12 weeks. When I understood what was going on it was to late to switch to an other dealer Now I'm waiting for the dealer's evaluation. |

If it's not in the contract it never happened. What a salesman says or does separate from the contract has no standing.
If the promises were in the contract you have a decision to make...hold them to it, which isn't going to happen because they can't deliver the car if they don't have it; negociate a compromise wherein the dealership does something to make you happy within reason. Or, you can walk...but don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Check with other dealers for potentially better deals; if found, then order from them; if not, then make the best of what you can get from the original deal. My guess is the Sales Manager knew exactly what was going down between you and your Customer Assistant (no pun intended)! Call

Dealer Issues.
I agree with others in saying that I think your problem is due to your dealer (or sales associate) not doing their job. I place my order back in mid-June and was told to expect delivery Sept. 22. With a few days I got a production number, and the following week I found out that my car will be at the South Carolina Performance Center August 15th, 5 weeks earlier than expected. I have had absolutely nothing but first-class service from my dealer, and especially my CA...THE BMW STORE in Cincinnati is highly recommended for an incredible car buying experience!!!
just my $0.02. Cheers! |

This should be good for haggling a few extra options or a lower price. A few people are getting incredible deals at the moment.
The dealer in shrewsbury ma near my work even has a black 128 infront of the dealership with a big 'special' tag hanging from the mirror. Its not a very good time for car dealers these days; remind the gm of that. |

I don't think I could buy from someone after they did that. It's either one or two things and neither deserve a second look. They either are 1) incompetent or 2) shifty.
