So I went for a spin today. There is a huge difference between D and DS on the auto transmission models. So I tried out DS and I got the same bucking and stumbling. I decided to try it again and watch my dash. I nailed it and noticed the traction control light flashing quickly. I wonder if that is my problem all along? I will try it again with the traction control completely off. But I can say taking up the accelerator pedal made a difference. The car still seems to be more responsive to pedal inputs.

I still can't take this thread seriously. The title just makes me giggle like a high-schooler

Every day I feel this when stopped at a traffic light, so I assume it would be normal?

I made that assumption, but apparently not... I dunno. My act didn't throw up with any errors when connected to my dealer's equipment and they have no idea about it.

Yeah, weirdly it was wet today and my car seemed more juddery than it has been for a while - so I was wondering if it was something to do with moisture?

Same on the startup too, almost like it's misfiring, the drone of the exhaust drops out every now and then on startup.

Problem turned out to be an oxygen sensor problem. Fixed under extended warranty.

Glad you got it fixed. I've just ordered some dielectric grease, so hopefully that helps/rectifies my issue, though I'm somewhat skeptical.

Glad you find this thread, entertaining. You'll likely refer to it when having similar problems. And get ready because you WILL have similar problems.

Does this occur commonly with 128i's and manual gear-boxes?

The coils on the 135i do not make physical contact with the contact terminal on the spark plugs. I suppose it's the same with the 128i. I have read dielectric grease (which is non conductive) helps to ensure the electrical discharge from the coil is directed to the plug and not through the boot to the surrounding metal and into the engine's head. Car engines need all the spark energy they can get. Their performance suffers if any of this energy finds an alternate route to ground.

I don't believe 128i's have coilpacks. Just your standard sparkplugs...

A coil pack is what charges a spark plug, you do not have coil packs OR spark plugs, you have both which operate together...always. The exception is where ignition leads are used instead of coil packs but this is generally old tech now although regardless, you have to have an ignition source to charge the plug, it cannot produce a spark itself.
