My point was that you would be a fool to think nav is going to make a difference...

No way you can justify the Pro Nav on price. I could never tell anyone they SHOULD get it. In fact, you can really only argue that it's a waste of money.

But so's having fifty thousand pairs of shoes and matching handbags that you wear once (read significant other). I look at it as my five years worth of shoes!

A mate had a chance to get Nav with rear camera ($4k in XC90 4WD). In that case, I think the Nav IS worth the cost, when you have young'uns running around. Pity the 135 doesn't have a camera. Less necessary than on a big 4WD, but still a nice safety feature with a young family.

Spdrcr...Believe me at 47 years old and having purchased 6 NEW BMW's and several other new cars over the past years I am NO FOOL....

You are missing the point BUDDY..

I agree with Kris's points on determining used car values.

The point that I am making is that the NAV or any other optional extra COULD BE THE DECIDING FACTOR, for a used car buyer when deciding between several cars and one has more options (Including NAV) than the other cars and they are all around the same pricing..
No rocket science there Spdrcr.

Of your 6 new BMW's how many of them have you sold privately? Because if you are trading back to BMW the options usually don't make a difference in the trade-in value. The options may be of benefit when selling to a buyer but not when the car is traded.

You are joking aren't you Swift135..
Regardless whether your car is traded or sold privately, the factory options make a difference in your trade-in valuation or sale price "usually".

Zuzu and all others are right. I have traded more cars in than most people given I buy at least one new car a year if not 2 or 3! Options do make a difference, but unfortunately not by anywhere near as much as the price you paid for them. But what is more important is the type of option you are talking about. Sunroof on a BMW makes a massive difference at trade in, satnav will depend on the model. I suspect on a 135i vert nav would be high on the list, but not say on a 118i. Special paint, for example err if you paid $10k on a special paint on a Porsche (ahem), you will be lucky to get an extra $500 for.

I was just thinking the same thing. I never use sunroofs and they reduce ceiling height. Furthermore they offer a place where dirt and rust can start ( as I found out in my old merc).

Oh well, doesn't matter.

Bit disappointing thou..
Dealer told me that they had only ordered Auto's in the 135 Vert and Coupe for the launch..
What are they thinking..
They market the 135 as a sport car and only order auto's..
Still worth the drive to make the wait a little bit lighter.

Same with my dealer Zuzu! Though he has 1 manual 135 there, but the rest are autos.

Those who didn't order sunroof, don't worry about it. I didn't either. In the private sale market, if you wait long enough, there will always be someone who doesn't want sunroof like some of us here! Espeically on a car like a 135i where some people just want maximum rigidity.

I'd never buy a second hand, or new car for that matter - if it had a sunroof. Only get a sunroof if you're going to use it a lot. Don't buy it for resale.

I'd probably avoid a second hand car with Nav as well. Only get it if you'll use it a lot, or if you love idrive. Don't buy it for resale.
