DIY Dash Top Replacement

Has anyone tried to do their own dash replacement. My 135i is out of warranty and it is getting the bubbling on the passanger side above the airbag. I have looked up how to replace the dash and it doesn't seem to be too hard, just a bit of work. My real question is, will there be a need to have the car's computer re-programmed?

You may also want to search for evaporator repairs. I believe that involves the step you're talking about, and I think I have seen people discussing it over the past few months.

Edit: nevermind, i thought you said you were *almost* out of warranty.

Np. I just reread your issue. I vaguely recall some people having this fixed under warranty possibly. I think it's a known issue so you should be able to find some threads on it to see if I'm right. IMO, I would try that route if you're under the original 4/50k warranty before trying DIY. Personally, I would just live with it if the dealer won't handle it, but if it bothers you enough, to each his own

BMW released a service bulletin advising that the airbag "etching" that happens along the outside of the module is not to be repaired/covered under warranty.

It seems like when they were doing warranty replacements that it ended up just showing up again after a little while. I'd advise the OP to just get used to it.
