Is it even reasonable to compare 135i vs. Z4M?
Apparently, leftover '07 Z4 M's are being sold at a huge discount these days. Am I the only person on here comparing those two models? thanks!

NO you are not, there have been a lot of people thinking about that route, myself included. I didn't really fall in love with it though when I did, so I decided to hold off until the 135. Hopefully it will inspire me like I wish.

I think its faster and lighter... I bet it quicker round a track too... that being said GL trying to go grocery shopping, or take some friends or your dog anywhere... Both are great cars one is quicker the other has more functionality...

I think the Z4M is a beautiful car. The biggest thing that is keeping me in a 135 is the back seat - gotta have it.

Z4M, in terms of styling, is A+++ in my book. It really depends on what you need

search bmw forums regarding z4m's gear grinding. bmw denies responsibility unless you can get the grind to be reproduced by the dealership people. then they replace your tranny. then you have the same problem on the new tranny.
yea bmw build quality is great! As far as how fast it is, its beeter in the top end than a 335 but 335 has more grunt. |

I have a Z4 M roadster right now and am planning to replace it with a 135i next year unless BMW gives me an unbelievable deal to buy my M off lease (which won't happen). I'll give you some comparison later this week after I have a chance to drive a 135i.

I have never been a fan of the Z4m's looks, plus the simple fact is I have to have a back seat. 135i Vert meets all my requirements.

Bimmer mag made an interesting point this month: The Z4M coupe is loud and punishing on the freeway - 4 hours is intolerable.

I have had a Z3 and a MZ3. I never warmed up to the Z4.
I thought the MZ4 did 0-60 in 4.8sec?

I'm thinking that the 135 will be almost as fun as a Z4M coupe with lower cost of ownership (lower insurance, better resale) and better suited to a daily driver. For me the 135 splits the difference between a 335i for commuting and a Z4M for the weekends.

One should add that the tuning potential of the 135 is much greater.
I think that a well sorted 135 with nearly 400hp 420trq (always round HP up) paired with PSS9s, weight reduction and some meatier non RF tires add up to a serious contender. This is evo territory if you ask me. If someone can figure out how to get 265s in the rear with mechanical diff, then you have a car that's simply top notch on and off the track. If I get one of these puppies, that would be the goal. The Z4M is a great car as a SECOND or THIRD car. It's not a good primary car. |
