What's also funny, and I've noticed this mostly on all of our respective mineral greys and some of the blues is that there's something about the curvature of the quarter panel about halfway up the driver's side that always makes it look like there's a reflection of a big black circle. Anyone else ever notice that? It sometimes shows up on other quarter panels, too.

You can see it pretty well on these two of mine. Think I saw it on one of IEDEI's pics the other day, too.
Thanks for the compliment! No, I'm no pro photographer by any stretch...but I do enjoy photography as a recreational activity. This car really gives me the photography itch!

The way the door panel surfaces have a concave shape does make for some interesting symmetric reflection patterns! Just look at all that orange peel...

Ya, I don't know what it is about this car, but every time I come up to it I almost want to start taking its picture. I only somewhat felt that way about my S5, even though I think that's a prettier car. Can't explain why I like this one more.

The black dot on the quarter panels in occasional pictures just weirds me out.

Good thing I didn't post all the before and after pictures I took of the tires and tire treads comparing the runflats to the michelins, which were commissioned by a fellow IS member who shall remain nameless. I imagine you may be taking some come Wednesday. However in love you are now, will get even higher then once you put those new tires on.

agreed....i think it's because the design has so many weird curves and textures....changes a lot in different lighting too. as my wife said....it's very 'artsy'.

That black dot is the back side mirror being reflected.

Question for Those Who Ordered Extra Set of Blue Floormats

This question is for anybody with or mostly who ordered an extra set of the blue-edged floormats.

After a month-long wait, I just opened mine and the blue-edging looks completely wrong. It looks like a dark navy! BAH!

I got the right part - part #5147732833

So, I'm curious mostly for those of you who ordered an extra set recently if you checked them to see what the color looks like. The set I received is not the bright vibrant, lemans blue-like blue and don't know if others look like this or are a dark navy.

Specifically I know Agav, Bama, and at least one other ordered a set in the last couple of months, so curious how your extra sets looked. I don't know if I somehow got a dud, or if BMW is just making them like crap now.

Very disappointed.

Update (sorry mb135is and Worra) - I went ahead and took some pics through a small hole I made in the plastic, so the first pic is what they SHOULD look like, and then the pics below that are what the set I got look like. They look TOTALLY wrong and like a dull navy, right? Tell me I'm not crazy. Well, I probably am regardless, but that's besides the point.

That looks like the blue I've seen in person on those mats.

I thought the trim was supposed to match the blue stitching of the seats, yes?

Wait, you mean you're GIVING me your set? Wow, how sweet of you! Thanks! You're the best!

Bet yours look a lot better than MY set! They'll see the same amount of use though as I'm going to have to send mine back, just don't know if I should try again or give up. Like Homer Simpson always says, trying is the first step towards failure.

Greg, they look correct to me. The picture if the mats in your car look brighter than mine, might just be the lighting. Both the set that came in the car and the spare set I ordered are darker blue almost navy colored. The part number on my mats is 51477327833. I noticed mine has a third 7, I don't know if you mistyped or have a different set.

Mine look more like Greg's first pic. More like the color of the stitching on the dark blue border pics in Greg's second pics.

In terms of more mature responses, glad to hear you're enjoying it. Gonna look very different if and when you put those winter wheels on, huh?

Also, are you planning to tint your windows? Seems to have a dramatic effect and makes them look even better. Love that blue though.

I'm not a big fan of tinted windows....although I know others are! the colour is very strange and changes a lot in different light! I'm a big fan of smaller black wheels on any car, so am looking forward to the winter setup going on it.

I'm also oddly satisfied with runflats so far.....maybe because the ride quality on my Audis have been so bad that this feels great even on NYC roads. lol

Just installed the Michelin PSSs. It is a much greater improvement in ride quality than I was expecting!

i might do it in the future....but at the time i'm reasonably happy with runflats, contrary to all the negative opinions of them online. i have heard that the turn in is also not as communicative or as sharp with non-RFT (due to less sidewall travel, etc). have you noticed that at all?

As I've said, I think the newer runflats on the car aren't that bad and 10x better than what was on my 2008. So, I think most people are fine with them on and may only bother you occasionally. However, with that being said, the PSS are just a really nice upgrade that have a much calmer (less harsh) ride, are much quieter, and better performing. They make driving it like heaven and exactly how I wanted it to handle/feel.

I think the negatives on the sidewall you're talking about, if true (I'm not sure but heard similar), would only be found if you're really pushing the car to its limits like at a track, at which point you'd be better off with track tires over both. I find the PSS to be extremely communicative as you can really feel them molding to the road as you go to keep an ideal contact patch whereas the runflats at times feel like they're a battering ram just plowing through and down the road.

My 2 cents after ~ 2,000 miles on the PSS compared to ~300 miles on the runflats.

I didn't specifically observe a change in turn-in behavior, but recalling the brief time in the car yesterday after the tires were installed, I can't say for sure. You may be right. When I get back to Ohio next week (and back to my baby!!!) I'll be taking a more detailed inventory.

I think you just nailed it. I would say they molding to the road versus rolling over the top of the road is a good way to describe it. I need to really pay attention to see if knocking a bit of the edge off of the occasional harshness in ride with RFTs is coming at the expense of communicative steering, turn-in, and overall handling crispness.

Question My 135is

I'm new here. Here is my 135is. I bought a new G37 last November and regretted it within a week. Up until that point I had been driving Saab 9000 and 9-5 Aeros exclusively. I traded the Infiniti for the 135 and took a $6K hit (which didn't seem all that bad) in mid July. I can't describe how much I like this car.

John

Also, BTW, after spending 20 years in the Navy I can assure you that Navy Blue is actually 'black'
