Stunning similarity to a '99 neon

I've had a modified 1999 Dodge neon for the last 10 years that has been used for everything from daily driver to autocross. It is currently serving as a "clutch trainer" for my teenage daughter. I couldn't help but notice the remarkable visual similarity between my 135 and the neon. Even the exterior dimensions are similar, with less than .5 inches difference in length. Just thought I would pass this on.

Why is this in Cosmetic Modifications? Well, I really couldn't figure out where to put it. And I may get out a brush and paint some matching silver stripes on the BMW. What do y'all think? Or maybe a shark tail for the neon?

Only because you don't want to...

Seriously, greenhouse shape, dimensions, wrap-around rear lights, rounded nose, door and pillar placement, rear deck, trunk opening (not visible in pic.) etc., etc., etc. I got the 135 home, looked at them in the drive, and thought "Damn! I just bought a De-Luxe neon!"

I had a 98 ACR neon for about 5 years. It was a beast on the autocross track. 12 seconds with NOS in the 1/4. I blew it up in tech school when i was in the air force because i put a 150 shot of nitrous on it at the track. it wasn't so much of a beast after that. purging nitrous 8 feet in the air is cool though.

First gen neons were great little cars, famous for blowing off Miatas in autocross. And as you point out, you could get away with doing just about anything to them.

the door pillar placement ? not even the same neon is slanted forward bmw is slanted back, rounded nose ? i dont think most cars are squares. lights that come partly onto the rear fender? again pretty standard on most cars :iono:

Lighten up, Bucky! Does the term "tongue in cheek" mean anything to you? Or maybe "difference of opinion"? Maybe I need to add smileys?

I think I see what is causing people to miss this. The side by side was plain to me. Maybe this will help?

The day someone compares my car to a neon is the day I sell it...

I can see where you're coming from... but I'd like to think of it like this:
Dodge tried, BMW succeeded.

Took me a minute, but that's some fine photochopping! I'm off to the "used parts yard" to find some R/T badges!

That Neon is special. Even though it has a frame around the door window, I'm still tempted to call it a Coupe.
